You've done well and your career hasn't peaked yet. Your novels are fine reads and I wish more people knew that about them. I think we have a few talented writers here and you gave some good advice.
If I can add one thing: beware agents. Title: Re: Want to be a writer? Post by: Pacman000 on February 19, 2018, 06:51:41 PM Good read. Is there any point in submitting stories to magazines these days?

Good question; ER could answer it better than me. Title: Re: Want to be a writer? Post by: ER on February 19, 2018, 11:00:14 PM Good read. Is there any point in submitting stories to magazines these days? Yes, absolutely, Pac, go for it. Print still exists in small press niches, and e-zines have readers. It's a good way to build a resume, even in this decade. Writer's Market is still a good resource, but finding markets online for short stories is simple. If you want to be read and aren't looking to get paid or build a reputation, posting your work online in writers' communities can get you feedback. We missed the era when someone who could craft a good story could actually make a living at it. Unless you're Joyce Carol Oates, everything these days is novels, and breaking in is like winning the lottery. Good luck! |
