They tracked snack sales; few people left the film to get more popcorn, so chances are they watched it to the end & lived. ;)

Convinced him to never work on another feature-length film, and he left this one out of his autobiography, if memory serves.

Hans Conreid is great in it. This and is voicing of Captain Hook "Row for the ship! Row for the ship!" in the animated Peter Pan makes one wish he had done more comedic villains. For the other side of him, as comedic hero, then see him in Siren of Bagdad, where with hiss comedic sword fight with Charlie Lung (IMHO) has to be one of the great swordfights, dramatic or comedic, in films. And Dr. Seuss not only hated the finished film, he disavowed it, When the local dialing for dollars show aired the film, he, as he lived in the area, was invited to come on the show and talk about his role in writing it, and he refused.
