Title: Creature (1985)
Post by: Svengoolie 3 on April 02, 2018, 01:40:00 AM
Creature (1984)  is a  1985 Alien inspired sf horror flick from trans world entertainment.  For an Alien spinoff made in 1985 it's not bad,  really.  The biggest star was Klaus Kinski who had a decent role in it and made a creepy movie even creepier.

The guys who made the monster went on to work on Aliens,  so their work in Creature must have caught James Cameron's eye.

All on all a well made Alien spin off that stands it's own.  Decent acting and effects make it failry easy to watch and a nice pair of bare b3wbz are always a welcome touch. Also an alien control device it a quiet tribute to the krell door control in forbidden planet.

Not great,  not bad, but will entertain B movie fans.

PS.  Someone let it fall into public domain so you  can watch it online with a clear conscience if you're a weenie who worries about that sort of thing.

I own the 2000 DVD from Diamond Ent. which is basically a VHS dub. In 2012 the director announced a fully unrated and remastered widescreen DVD which he eventually released. It goes for $130 on amazon for those interested  :teddyr:

Haven't watched Creature in over 15 years. I should revisit again soon.

I saw it way back when it was originally released on VHS. I remember very little about the movie, but I know I enjoyed it.

I have a dollar-store "double feature" DVD that pairs "Creature" with "Slipstream." Both were enjoyable cheez. "Creature" doesn't have an original bone in its body but it's fun.

I don't know if it is still on there or not, but I did watch Creature on Netflix in the last year or two.

You know at least 'creature' was honest in that it was. Taking ideas from other. Movies,  and even made a tribute to Howard Hawkes'  ''The thing'' which is an under appreciated classic.
