At the same time its hard to believe the glowing "if he can even be called a man" stuff, if a scribe were to add something thats just about exactly what it would sound like.
also re: josephus the Masada story has been somewhat cherry picked and embellished and is not exactly as its represented in the Israeli ntaionalism and so forth. as you may be aware |
