This one was particularly scary for my family.  My sister-in-law is a teacher in Texas and this one happened only a few miles from the school she works at.  She told us that her school went into lock down even though there was no active shooter there.  She and my nephew are safe.

Given that any attempt at nationwide firearms confiscation is practically and politically impossible, I think that increasing security and decreasing access to schools may wind up being the only realistic way to protect our kids.
