Title: Does this seem wrong to anyone else?

Some state lottery's are using gene Wilder's face in ads for golden ticket lotto. He's been dead for a while, sadly. So he didn't consent. Did his family consent?  Did the company who made the movie have the right to let Lottos use this with out any consent or royalties to the wilder estate?

Anyway it's kinda why I had willy wonka on my mind lately. I even made some numerous rwffs to a user who used Wilder's wonka as an avatar.

I'm not to good with lotteries. I mean yes they are an idiot tax but still they are taking advantage of often desperate people....

I'm assuming there's got to be some consent from the family and film studio since he's in costume.  But I'm not sure how all the legalities work out.

But I did find this article:

Gauging what I could from that, I'd assume the lotto would've contacted the film studio that produced Wonka, gotten their permission, but they and their lawyers probably would've deferred said lotto people to Wilder's lawyer/estate/children, etc for final say as it's his brand/name/likeness.  If they didn't they would've opened themselves up to lawsuits in the millions of dollars.
