I've seen several trailers for this on YouTube, so I decided to look it up. Apparently it's based on this short:

I wish them the best of luck, but its been done before. Perhaps, not with Rin Tin Tin, but with the robot dog K-9 from the Doctor Who TV series. The robot dog has also appeared in a number of TV shows, including K-9 and Company, the only one I've seen, and which, unfortunately, never made it past the pilot episode. There, of course, might have been other robot dogs in films and on TV shows, of which I am unaware.

K9 and Company was on TV in Australia years ago, but sadly it never got off the ground.  At least we got to see it.  Imagine if they updated K9, I wonder what the design would be like.

AXL looks super cool, a robot dog version of the upcoming Bumblebee movie, maybe.

If a new K9 was like AXL, an experimental military project with AI and advanced tracking and combat capabilities, yeah, I'd pay to see that.

This thread got me to thinking, which is always dangerous, but the only other robotic dog I could think of, was whatever Boxey had on the original Battle star Galactica from the 1970's. The dog or whatever it was being animated by a chimpanzee--apparently.

You'd think it anybody had a robotic dog, it'd be the Jetsons in The Jetsons, as they had a robotic maid Rosie, but the dog was apparently--supposedly--a real dog.

As for K9 and Company, not all attempted virgin sacrifices are of the female persuasion.
