I dunno- they still haven't made a CREATURE OF THE BLACK LAGOON movie since 1956, so...
You would think another ET movie would be here by now.
Or CLOSE ENCOUNTERS of the FOURTH KIND.

It's been in development a few times since then.  I think the most recent time it got put on the backburner so they could push their "Dark Universe" instead and we all know how that went.

That 'Dark Universe' thing was an attempt to create a Marvel or DC Universe thing. Hammer is trying a comeback...not so good either. I seen a couple. No vampires or Dr. Frankenstein's. It's not even Hammer. It's just the Hammer name.
That 's sad. I hope they let it die.

What's that old saying-?
"You can't go home."

Unless, of course, you have never left.

Will Dr. Mabuse ever come back?

I think the film's from the 20's and 30's were fantastic.
I liked the 1960's German ones too.
I like the concept of a global criminal mastermind....who's the star of the movie.

I'd be down for a Ren & Stimpy movie.

I'd be down for a Ren & Stimpy movie.

IF- it was made by the original creators- otherwise-nah.
When Spielberg tried to revamp Looney Tunes- It Sucked.

Heh heh.  I'd be up for a CftBL remake but i'd modernize it with some religious fanatics trying to destroy the creature because it provided irrefutable evidence of evolution and debunked creationism.

That wouldn't work. Maybe in 1973- but not now. Major film studios are not going to polorize an audiance with a monster movie. If it has monsters or superheros you can bet lotsa things will blow up.

There already was a Betty Boop movie, Hooray for Betty Boop, tho it was little more than a clip show: http://cartoonresearch.com/index.php/animation-anecdotes-135/ (http://cartoonresearch.com/index.php/animation-anecdotes-135/)

Guys,  why not ask your own questions?  That was what the thread was about.  I start a. Question,  other people get to. Finish it.

So..

...makes a Barbarella remake?

We are asking questions here.
We have to answer YOUR questions?
So- we can't ask our own questions?
I dunno wtf your asking here?
I like BAD MOVIES for it's free form- not because it's structured.
Sometimes you act like the thing you profess to dislike.
And that's CONTROL.

For some reason, I keep expecting a pale, weak remake of Fritz Lang's M (1931), starring a bunch of washed up New England celebrities who have somehow maintained their Yankee accents, and would have lots of annoyingly unsubtle anti-police, pro-communist undertones to it...

I'd be keen on a Metropolis remake.

Wasn't Robert Rodriguez developing a Barbarella remake at some point? I think there is some scope for this, but I have a feeling that in the current political climate, there are significant aspects that would need to change in order to keep in line with modern expectations which may hurt it's potential.

You. Know with good cgi a good. Movie can be made low budget and aimed at a smaller audience and still. Make money.  Someone could make a movie targeted at one demographic and rely on outrage from. An opposing demographic to get the target demo to see it.

It's already been done. In 1951, it was remade with David Wayne in the Peter Lorre role, with the story being set in California. I haven't seen the remake, so I can't comment on it, but I do know that it has its fans, which says something about a remake of a film that is considered a classic.

There was also a graphic novelization of the story with artist/writer using his friends, neighbors, relatives as the characters in the story and using as a background for the story the German-American area of Cincinnati (Ohio.)

As for Barbarella, yeah, I'd be up for a remake of one of my favorite comic strips. I did hear the rumor that it was suppose to be remade with Drew Barrymore in the Jane Fonda role, but nothing seems to have come of that.

. . . a politically correct version of SONG OF THE SOUTH?

. . . a remake of EASY RIDER with two millennials traveling across the United States in an SUV? (well, I guess Albert Brooks came close with LOST IN AMERICA)

. . . a movie called THE SELFIE OF DORIAN GRAY?

. . . a movie based on THE MANY LOVES OF DOBIE GILLIS?

My first though was Made In The U.S.A. (1987), a flick about two down & out small town thieves who head west looking for a calendar girl, & find nothing but trouble (along with a number of inaccurate environmental statements) along the way.

Hollywood's probably been trying to cash in on that bonanza since Two-Lane Blacktop (1971), about a pair of drag racers who's only relationship is with their car, until a girl comes between them & they accept a challenge from a 40 year old poser.

Come to think of it, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1974) starts out as a road movie when two completely different kinds of con men wind up together...

And I've always wanted to see Roadside Prophets (1992) but never got around to it...

The thing most copycats tend to forget about easy rider, is how it starts off with two low lifes getting rich off a couple pounds of cocaine, and the rest of the movie is either improvised or video postcards...

These days, the movie would be about getting on the interstate, getting where you wanna go in under eight hours, and PFFT!

I don't know if they ever will but I think. It's time. For an accurate. Version of 'the time machine''.

Ooh... Remake of Easy Rider: A bunch of college bicycle junkies decide to go on a cross country bicycle trip over the summer break, & keep getting arrested for breezing through stop signs, taking their bikes on the interstate, holding up traffic, etc...

They keep wrecking their bikes on substandard roads, getting run off the road on rural routes by impatient drivers...

Ultimately, they run out of money, stamina, and above all, didn't really factor in just how long a bicycling tour would take, and only make it a little over 1/8 of the way to their destination...
