Title: Searching (2018)
Post by: Olivia Bauer on September 08, 2018, 06:33:54 PM
Searching is a film about a father scouring the internet for clues as to the whereabouts of his missing daughter.
The entire thing takes place on computer screens, kinda like Unfriended but not terrible.
It's a genuinely intense film that got me very invested in the characters. It's pretty up in the air whether or not the daughter is dead
and is a parent's worst nightmare. They even show passage of time through the looks of Operating Systems and old website layouts.
When the daughter is just a little girl the scene takes place on a Windows XP computer and you can clearly see a much older layout for YouTube (Got me pretty nostalgic, since I used YouTube when it was new). The modern scenes seem to take place mostly on a newer version of Mac OS.

The movie has some genuinely shocking twists. No s**t, I actually gasped a couple of times. It was a great experience and I'd love to see it again.

8/10
