Title: Columbian Hot Dog

my job (uber) brings me to the airport here in Boston all the time, so I've discovered the neighborhood around it, called East Boston, lately. One of my favorite places to go is La Chiva https://www.yelp.com/biz/la-chiva-restaurant-boston (https://www.yelp.com/biz/la-chiva-restaurant-boston)

I usually get empanadas (1.50 a piece) and pastelles (2.50). WHat I really love is the sauce they come with. there's a red sauce and a pink sauce. No clue what either are but they are f**king good and really scratch the itch.

I had noticed the Colombian hot dog on the menu and wondered what the Hell it was. The egg on top in particular was baffling.

The above picture doesn't even do it justice. It was covered in crushed potato chips which are not really visible there. I have to give it a thumbs down though. The hot dog itself was great. it was high quality and covered in a piece of bacon. All the colored stuff and potato chips were like...way to weird and random though

here are some others. crazy stuff https://www.google.com/search?q=colombian+hot+dog&client=firefox-b-1&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi-2JG4zazdAhWId98KHelzDGAQ_AUICigB&biw=1600&bih=767#imgrc=qfbL-IX5gfVnAM: (https://www.google.com/search?q=colombian+hot+dog&client=firefox-b-1&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi-2JG4zazdAhWId98KHelzDGAQ_AUICigB&biw=1600&bih=767#imgrc=qfbL-IX5gfVnAM:)

I'd give it a shot if it didn't have an egg on it. Otherwise, it looks great.

I kind of like the idea of crushed potato chips on a hot dog. I usually pile German style roasted onions on mine, so I'm all about the crunch. The inclusion of an egg is weird though.

I had hot dogs in Portugal that had potato sticks on them. I've also had hot dogs (in either Brazil or Portugal . . . I don't remember) that had kernels of corn and shaved carrots on them.

That hotdog reminds me of a one-man band at a county fair playing drums, trombine, guitar, harmonica and bagpipes all at once.

If you threw in Twinkies, Yodels, Ring Dings and Krimpets to your list you'd be describing what built this body!   :teddyr:

316zombie - I wouldn't be surprised the neighborhood has changed quite a bit in recent years. Its mainly Spanish but there is still Santarpios, a Polish place, and even an Australian pie place! quite a panaplie however you spell it

You can't find a knish in my neck of Michigan, that's for sure. Upstate in Liberty, NY in 1975, there was this Jewish diner- best knishes ever.
Up in the Catskills.
