Title: HALLOWEEN!
Post by: RCMerchant on October 18, 2018, 10:11:59 AM
My favorite holiday!
I have a vampire cape and a top hat and fangs and white and black makeup ready. And fake blood. Tiana's going to be a bat. She has wings that have LED lights on them and ears . And of course both of us will be dressed in black.
I bought 3 pumpkins (which will be butchered into scary faced Jack-O-Lanterns) and lotsa yard decorations.
And I bought lotsa candy, of course. We're ready!

Have a great one mate, it is my favourite time of year too, when everyone else dresses the way I do for the rest of the year. Especially my saucy French maid outfit.  :bouncegiggle: :drink: :bouncegiggle: :twirl: :drink:

I love Halloween. Since I'm already drawn to cemeteries and like wearing black it makes me feel normal.

We usually decorate more for it than we do Christmas and do two parties, one for children one not. (Ahem.) We also try to do a big bonfire the weekend before Halloween and I invite all my Norse-pagan friends so they can bring over their mead and howl a lot and call our great oak trees their sacred grove. It gets entertaining. We drag them in the house when they pass out.

I probably don't watch as many movies for Halloween as many of you do but Halloween falls into my favorite time of year and with me tends to be less focused on the twilight of October 31st and is more about the spirit of the season itself. Kind of like the Jews handle Hanukkah.

Every year on Halloween I make a point to read Joyce Carol Oates' story Night-Side and also eat Chinese food. Why Chinese? I don't really know, but somehow that's a tradition too.

Happy Halloween one and all.

I have a 4 foot tall Bela Lugosi blow mold Dracula from some old boy who had it sitting in his yard to advertise his used bikes and lawnmowers. Along with pink flamingos and a concrete deer. I bought that about 2005? It's weather worn-but that just makes it spookier!
It has a light in it too! He stands in front of the house on Haloween! I'll ask me son Jed to take a picture.

When Bela ain't outside at Halloween he stands on top of the WW2 foot locker we use as a tool box in the porch room.
So the first thing you see when you open the side front door is Bela.
You do know it's only 2 shopping days until Bela Lugosi's Birthday, don't you?

RC, at first glance I thought that was Golda Meir on your picture. I thought....what?

I must have severe eye strain today.

Oh, for the days of Halloween, when you could just put on a bedroom sheet, your Mother no longer wanted and go as a ghost. Which I have done. Now children's costumes, and that is just for costumes for children, is an over $1 billion industry.

For the love of all that is unholy and impure...

Guess what? It IS Golda!
Guess what again! I'm lying!  :buggedout:
