Title: Is it just me or...? (Open thread, ask your own IIJM? questions?)
Post by: Svengoolie 3 on December 29, 2018, 09:02:33 PM
I like dark beef gravy on roast turkey. I don't  really like that pale yellow turkey gravy,  I prefer dark beef flavored gravy on roast turkey.  Is it just me?

it's probably just you, in reference to the flavor of the gravy. i've never made yellow turkey gravy in my like, it's always dark brown and made from the drippings and broth from the turkey pan.
beef gravy and turkey...doesn't that kinda blow away the delicate flavor of the turkey?

I like my gravy to be made from the same animal as the meat.

Pan juice to make the gravy is the way to go for me as well.

I usta love the Roy Rogers in Shirley, Long Island.
I gotta say-I lived on the Chicken Coop Lunch Special in Paw Paw Michigan in the 80's.
And when I went to Dowajac in the 80's, when I got laid off for 2 weeks around Xmas every year (so the bosses could go on vacation), there was a KFC next to the unemployment office that had great chicken!

Person "Is it just me or..."

My Response: "Yes-out of the nearly 8 billion people currently alive, you're the only one who thinks that"

Is it just me or do times when the Lenin Mausoleum is closed for repairs seem to coincide with candle shortages in Moscow?

Is it just me, or did this "meaningless" Cowboys versus Giants game feel more like a championship match-up?

Out of all the great figures of history would Einstein have been the most fun to just share some beers with?

Shaved eyebrows and fake eyebrows painted on? I have noticed that in a few Millennial girls lately and talked to one about it. The funny thing was she seemed to think the style was original, not looking back to Harlow and Mona Lisa and who knows who else. Short of a new technological invention, like holo-tattoos or fiber-optic color-changing hair, something that we haven't had in the past, I don't think there are any new styles.

h?
Honestly, not in my top twenty. I bet when Einstein got drunk his accent went to thick pulp and the conversation would have been, "Huh?"

I think the man had quite the sense of fun and a better grip on life than many of his contempories. I can't imagine Newton having his portrait done with his tongue sticking out, or some other figure giving the quote about kissing a girl while driving a car.

That's a funny way to spell Taco Bell.

In all seriousness the few times I've had KFC I was underwhelmed. Same goes for chick-fil-a and Popeyes. Raisin Canes is slightly better.

I only know one song by Bread, the one that was used in The Virgin Suicides soundtrack. (And referenced in the novel.) It has a slow dreamy quality you don't hear today.

Here, this one:

(Oh, just realized I'm referencing a book about five teenage sisters who kill themselves. Doesn't refute that whole "you romanticize death, ER" claim of yours, does it, RC?  :bouncegiggle:)

My cousin Allie likes tiny cats and always has, so that might be why it seems like it to me. She's owned full-grown cats the size of kittens as far back as I can remember.
