The blob 1988. People love the phonebooth scene, I can't, the woman killed in it reminds me of someone very dear to me. Godzilla, mothra and king ghidorah. The girl in the hospital. I love the movie, its sequels, and the TV show, but that scene will always be a personal hated of mine. Probably the only thing I dislike from the whole franchise.
Seriously? A tree raping a chick? Totally uncalled for, adds nothing to the plot, and it's not scary, just disturbing. I haven't seen it in a while but if my memory is correct the girl doesn't even mention it again, so it's not even like it developed the character in any way. Basically, a crappy edgy move which great directors like Sam Raimi don't need, but I guess he was starting and needed the shock factor. And don't get me wrong, it's not for a stupid PC idea or anything like that, it's just that I feel it has nothing to do with the movie. The kid smashing head in Toxic Avenger is way worse and I think is awesome because it actually fleshes out the evil personalities of the bullies, it's not just some random kill. The rest of the movie was pretty scary and brutal as well, but that scene just topped it all. Van Damme was in a number of bleak, depressing films during that period, nothing like the enjoyable heroics of his earlier movies.
