THE NIGHT STALKER (1971) is the greatest made-for-TV movie. Though not as good, I liked the follow up movie THE NIGHT STRANGLER (1973) too. I love DARREN McGAVIN and KOLCHAK the character, but that TV series (even with SIMON OAKLAND) is a drag... I remember when that was new and I SO looked forward to it. That faded swiftly after a few weeks. I found the TV series disappointing. I recently looked at bits of a few of the reruns (ME-TV Saturday nights I think) and they are still disappointing and kinda cheapo and not in a good way. COLUMBO THE BOB NEWHART SHOW Recently seen reruns and it's dated but cool. SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN (I remember the Made-for-TV movie and being excited to watch the series... and did, and LIKED IT! THE ROOKIES POLICE STORY Each week was an hour and a different cast...? If so, I used to watch that too! Battlestar Galactica* Buck Rogers in the 25th Century Charlie's Angels C.H.i.P.S. Emergency! The Muppet Show Happy Days Dukes of Hazzard Diff'rent Strokes The Gong Show *my dad hated sci-fi, so I only got to watch "Battlestar Galactica" if there was nothing else on. Other considerations would be THE ROOKIES and MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS. I could easily add lotsa regional shows, like Double Creature Feature out of South Bend IN., or Shock Theater out of Kalamazoo, MI. Or the Morning Movie, which showed old 1930's gangster movies every weekend at 6 in the morning. I had a little black and white in my room in the basement. I watched Cagney and Bogie at 6 in the morn when I was 12. So great. My mum loved those two shows and used to watch them all the time, along with an Australian show called The Sullivans (which I also hated). I never really watched Monty Python as a kid (although I'd seen the movies). The TV show wouldn't become a thing for me until my late teenage years. I preferred another comedy group called The Goodies (which was on at the same time). And Benny Hill was essential viewing. F?ck it- I'm gonna add regional shows- because I watched a lot of uhf DOUBLE CREATURE FEATURE on Ch.28 out of South Bend, Indiana. 5. SHOCK THEATER on Ch.41 on Kalamazoo Mi. 6. Women's Roller Derby- I don't remember what station it was on. But it was the weekend in the afternoon. ....I gotta think on the rest... |
