Title: 70's TV-Top 10 Post by: RCMerchant on March 24, 2019, 09:26:33 PM Dam. This is hard.
In no order- 1.KUNG FU- with David Carradine. 2.KOLCHAK:THE NIGHT STALKER. 3.IN SEARCH OF...-with Spock narrating. 4.the WORLD AT WAR-a great documentary I seen on PBS. 5.ALL IN THE FAMILY 6.SOUL TRAIN 7.GUNSMOKE 8.PLANET OF THE APES...I loved this show! 9.WONDER WOMAN 10.the INCREDIBLE HULK Title: Re: 70's TV-Top 10 Post by: Allhallowsday on March 24, 2019, 11:17:44 PM I remember and watched all of those shows back then ...
THE NIGHT STALKER (1971) is the greatest made-for-TV movie. Though not as good, I liked the follow up movie THE NIGHT STRANGLER (1973) too. I love DARREN McGAVIN and KOLCHAK the character, but that TV series (even with SIMON OAKLAND) is a drag... I remember when that was new and I SO looked forward to it. That faded swiftly after a few weeks. I found the TV series disappointing. I recently looked at bits of a few of the reruns (ME-TV Saturday nights I think) and they are still disappointing and kinda cheapo and not in a good way. The greatest show in the 1970s: THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW. And SANFORD & SON. And ZOOM (PBS series) Title: Re: 70's TV-Top 10 Post by: claws on March 25, 2019, 12:53:16 AM 1. Columbo
2. Little House on the Prairie 3. Charlie's Angels 4. Three's Company 5. The Waltons 6. Cannon 7. The Incredible Hulk 8. The Six Million Dollar Man 9. The Rockford Files 10. Kung Fu Title: Re: 70's TV-Top 10 Post by: Alex on March 25, 2019, 01:31:08 AM Claws, I won't say which shows, but you've managed to pick two of my most hated shows as well as two of my favourites lol.

Title: Re: 70's TV-Top 10 Post by: RCMerchant on March 25, 2019, 02:33:05 PM I remember and watched all of those shows back then ... Yeah, it was stupid. The episodes were generally good, but they're far too repetitive for a weekly series. (From what I've seen.) Title: Re: 70's TV-Top 10 Post by: retrorussell on March 26, 2019, 01:35:35 PM 1. The Midnight Special
2. Soul Train 3. The Joker's Wild 4. Match Game '73-'79 5. Kung Fu 6. Battlestar Galactica 7. Police Story 8. 6 Million Dollar Man 9. Charlie's Angels 10. Tic Tac Dough Title: Re: 70's TV-Top 10 Post by: Allhallowsday on March 26, 2019, 08:01:48 PM Some interesting picks which make me think of (or cherry pick)...
COLUMBO THE BOB NEWHART SHOW Recently seen reruns and it's dated but cool. SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN (I remember the Made-for-TV movie and being excited to watch the series... and did, and LIKED IT! THE ROOKIES POLICE STORY Each week was an hour and a different cast...? If so, I used to watch that too! BARETTA STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO tied with STARSKY & HUTCH (My sister loved them so we watched both every week and I got to like them) Title: Re: 70's TV-Top 10 Post by: lester1/2jr on March 28, 2019, 08:29:52 PM White Shadow
Title: Re: 70's TV-Top 10 Post by: FatFreddysCat on March 29, 2019, 09:33:35 AM I was born in '70 and we only had one TV in the house so for much of the decade, so most of the time I watched whatever my parents were watching. These were some of our family faves:
Battlestar Galactica* Buck Rogers in the 25th Century Charlie's Angels C.H.i.P.S. Emergency! The Muppet Show Happy Days Dukes of Hazzard Diff'rent Strokes The Gong Show *my dad hated sci-fi, so I only got to watch "Battlestar Galactica" if there was nothing else on. He didn't mind Buck Rogers, but I'm sure that was due more to the presence of Erin Gray than anything else :D Title: Re: 70's TV-Top 10 Post by: The Burgomaster on April 15, 2019, 06:37:39 PM Dam. Other considerations would be THE ROOKIES and MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS. Title: Re: 70's TV-Top 10 Post by: RCMerchant on April 15, 2019, 07:15:01 PM Claws, I won't say which shows, but you've managed to pick two of my most hated shows as well as two of my favourites lol. I'm guessing the WALTONS and LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRARIE-am I right? MONTY PYTHON was dam close! So was the BENNY HILL SHOW! I could easily add lotsa regional shows, like Double Creature Feature out of South Bend IN., or Shock Theater out of Kalamazoo, MI. Or the Morning Movie, which showed old 1930's gangster movies every weekend at 6 in the morning. I had a little black and white in my room in the basement. I watched Cagney and Bogie at 6 in the morn when I was 12. So great. My mum loved those two shows and used to watch them all the time, along with an Australian show called The Sullivans (which I also hated). I never really watched Monty Python as a kid (although I'd seen the movies). The TV show wouldn't become a thing for me until my late teenage years. I preferred another comedy group called The Goodies (which was on at the same time). And Benny Hill was essential viewing. Title: Re: 70's TV-Top 10 Post by: RCMerchant on April 16, 2019, 11:31:41 AM I'm gonna try 10 more...
1.SANFORD AND SON 2.MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS 3.GHOST STORY (narrated by Sebastion Cabot) Anybody recall this? 4. F?ck it- I'm gonna add regional shows- because I watched a lot of uhf DOUBLE CREATURE FEATURE on Ch.28 out of South Bend, Indiana. 5. SHOCK THEATER on Ch.41 on Kalamazoo Mi. 6. Women's Roller Derby- I don't remember what station it was on. But it was the weekend in the afternoon. ....I gotta think on the rest... |
