In some of the articles and reviews I learned that Mike Mignola (Hellboy's creator) was really disappointed with the DelToro movies because of all the changes to the lore he made. But this should not have been the way they went. It tries to be a couple of different story arks and nods to the comics while telling one story. Its one of those movies where 99% of the characters come across as jerks and terrible people. There is some nice creature design. And one dream/vision sequence that would make a pretty good heavy metal video. The CGI is ranges from pretty standard to fairly bad. A lot of the practical effects don't fair much better. I have met cosplayers wearing better looking versions of some of the characters scene in this movie. This was not worth the $8 matinee price I saw it at. |
