Title: HAMILTON
Post by: indianasmith on April 22, 2019, 07:24:17 PM
After listening to the sound track for the last 2 years, I finally got to go see the stage musical in Dallas last night.  Of course, I was prepared to like it anyway, but I was blown away by the quality of the production, by the choreography, the individual performances, and the set itself.  In addition, they had a number of fascinating artifacts from Hamilton's lifetime on display, including authentic letters written and signed by Hamilton, George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson.

If case you haven't followed it at all, HAMILTON is a hip-hop musical based on the life of America's first Treasury Secretary, Alexander Hamilton.  Featuring a heavily minority cast to emphasize Hamilton's immigrant status, this production spans the years from 1776-1804, telling the story of Hamilton's rise, fall, and tragic death with snappy lyrics, a healthy dose of humor, and moments of genuine pathos.  I loved the entire production and was in tears by the end.

Anyone else seen this and care to share any thoughts?

Hamilton : the Film

While there is to be a film version, with a script for it already written, it is several years away from being made, as Lin-Manuel Miranda has said that he wants everyone to see the stage musical first. I presume that includes the people in Hamburg (Germany) in 2020 and Sydney (Australia) in 2021.

I hope they can reunite the Broadway cast for it!!  Some of those voices are simply marvelous.
