Title: Books I've Been Meaning To Read
Post by: LilCerberus on April 28, 2019, 02:00:54 PM
I Dunno, I bought these, & then didn't think much about improving the reading light around here..........

Spoon River Anthology by Edgar Lee Masters
We were each given a page out of this for monologue practice in my first acting class, & I loved the delicious irony of the life, death & selective remembrance, but when I tried to read it as a book, it just couldn't hold my attention...

Ezekiel Saw A Wheel by Kieth Van Allen
I'm friends with the author, & I was at a book signing which came with a complementary doddle. I lent it to my mom, who said it was very visually descriptive, but I haven't gotten around to reading it myself.

PVC Musical Instruments and How to Make Them by John Kovac
Back when the internet was slow & painful, & before The Blue Man Group was a thing, this guy wrote a book about how to make harps, violins & some low end woodwinded instruments with PVC.....

Movie Speak: How to Talk Like You Belong on a Film Set by Tony Bill
Got it my pocket right now, & haven't even thought about it. Somebody in one of my facebook groups said it would be good to have, considering my pipedream of making it as a crafty or PA or sound or actor or something.....

Bored Of The Rings by The Harvard Lampoon
Re-read, actually... Read this before I read The Lord Of The Rings trilogy (And I never finished reading Return Of The King for some reason). Read in the sixth grade, when I thought fart jokes were funny. When the movie versions of the trilogy were wrapping up, & the first Hobbit movie came out, I thought this would make a great b grade parody, with people riding around on Honda PA50s, but after an internet search, I'd found that more than one person had beaten me to the idea.........

Well, I'd like to read the entire Bokklubben World Library before I die:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bokklubben_World_Library

I've read 29 of them and parts of many of the others.

Oh, yeah....
One or two on here I've been meaning to glance at &- Wait a minute; The Tin Drum was a book? No wonder!

When I was young & stupid, I stopped into an antique book shop & bought a 1953 Select Writings of De Sade. Early on, I found it too much like an episode of Nightline, & gave up..... One sided & didn't live up to the hype.

I should finish reading the game of thrones books. Got 3 1/2 books into it and then got distracted.

Harvard Lampoon's
Bored of the Rings

"'Those who still ride with the King of Tudor will live forever in song and legend. The rest may go.' It is said that the dust did not settle for many days after."

ROTFL! To my mind, one of the best and greatest putdowns I have ever seen in literature.
