I tried to look up an old thread and got an error message.
It worked for me when I just tried it.
I keep getting this message:
2: pspell_new(): PSPELL couldn't open the dictionary. reason: No word lists can be found for the language "en".
File: /home/fenris/public_html/forum/Sources/Search.php
Line: 737
Having no issues with it.
As Lieutenant Hunter would say: "Works for me."
Try clearing your cache? Sort of a general recommendation for any Internet issue.

same here - and after clearing my browser history and restarting my computer
Did you get it sorted Indy?
That's strange. Works perfectly for me in 3 different browsers.
i'm getting it too, on both computers.
I got the same message after I clicked on spell check when making a post last night on the screen that popped up.
What browsers are the folks having problems using?

I'm using Microsoft Edge
I don't think it's browser related. It works for me in Edge, Firefox and Chrome.
i tried all 3 of those and got the error. i'm on windows10, is that the issue?
I am on Win 10 with no issues.
so weird..i can't see it being a phone vs. laptop vs. desktop...

No, I'm on Windows 10, but good question. It would help to find the common factor between those experiencing the problem and those not experiencing it.
i agree, that might help us fix it for all of us.
I downloaded Google Chrome for another reason, but decided to see if the search function would work for me in it
it did not
OK, I got it to not work.
If I use the green and yellow "search" button from the menu above I see the error you guys are having.
I didn't notice it because I always use the box labeled "Google Custom Search" at the top of the screen, to the right of the badmovies.org logo, to search. That works fine.
Try using that. The internal search function is probably 10 years old and needs updating/replacing.
I haven't used anything but Firefox for browsing in years; I have not been able to use SEARCH since the site went down. Before the site was restored I had done the cache clear-out thingy and had to re-enter passwords at all of my usual haunts, even here. Didn't help.
Did you try my suggestion immediately above, to use the Google search box at the top of the page instead of the search button?

Yes. The SEARCH feature of Badmovies.org is far superior. I found a way, but hardly ideal. Thanks for pointing it out, it might prove useful.

it works for me, but it doesn't
using the Google search does allow me to search for items within the forum, however the results are terrible and aren't related to what I'm looking for

That's almost the same for me.
yup, same here.
I searched for "washing powder for undies" and the site went down :buggedout:
What type of computer does everyone have who the search function isn't working for?

The search function isn't working for anyone. Those of us who thought it was working were using a different search than the one you guys are complaining about. The Google-powered search works; the internal one that runs off the bulletin board software doesn't and won't be fixed unless Andrew notices and decides to update it. Sorry. :bluesad:

I have a refurbished Dell...it don't work for me either.
The search function you guys are talking about isn't working for anyone and probably never will. You have to use the Google custom search at the top of the page.
no offense rev, but that search REALLY sucks. oh well, such is life.

I didn't make it so, I'm not offended. Just wanted people to know that there's no use trying to figure the problem out anymore. The custom forum search is gone unless Andrew decides to update his software.
true, it IS good to know it's not us, it's the software.
