Title: Lamest/Best Monster Reveals
Post by: dcj2112 on June 30, 2019, 12:27:02 PM
I hate when the movie takes forever to reveal a monster AND it still ends up being lame. I don’t mind waiting as the anticipation can be great, but the payoff better be worth it. On the flip side I love silly/low budget costumes, but if that’s all you got then I want your guy in a monkey outfit with a tag clearly visible killing people the whole movie. Don’t make me wait for that garbage.

Case in point I just watched Croaked: Frog Monster From Hell. The monster was pretty much just a guy in a green costume. Nothing special. But we don’t see him fully until about an hour in. LAME!

Not exactly a monster, but the big reveal at the end of Contact was terrible.

jason voorhees's face reveal in F13 pt.3 is pretty lame. he looks like half pig, half fat kid...

in pt 7 he looks like Iron Maiden's eddie mascot

The creep in JEEPERS CREEPERS.
When you finally got a good look at him, it was chilling!
And Samarra crawling out of the TV at the end of THE RING.
That scene gave a lot of people nightmares!

In HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN, Glenn Strange as the Monster just lies on a table for most of the movie. So, you get to see him, but he don't do s**t!
But he looks cool!

the Monster in IT CONQUERED THE WORLD (1956)  had claws and looked like a weird mutant vegetable! Fantastic!
But in the remake ZONTAR, THE THING FROM VENUS (1966) , which was a remake-was awful!
The monster in both films wasn't shown until close to the end, and in ZONTAR- It looked like some middle school kids tried to make a monster with paper mache!

It's not exactly the same thing but here's a really lame Phantom of the Opera unmasking.

It took me a moment to realize there was even anything wrong with the guy and when I did, it still wasn't that bad.  I've worked with people that were uglier than that.

It's like the monster is responding to your post?

"Awful?  Who's awful?  Me?"

To me the worst has be The Giant Claw for great awfulness  :bouncegiggle: :bouncegiggle: :bouncegiggle:

I think best is either the shark in Jaws or the xenamorph in Alien
