Title: 70s/80s film with a scene where a rich woman wants to 'buy' a boxer
Post by: JJWX on March 28, 2020, 01:31:48 PM
I remember very little of this movie, i most likely saw it ob cable in the early 80s or thereabouts.  It involved boxing but it was not a sports type movie, more of a 'caper'.  I think it was likely about gangsters., may have been set years ago (or not), and I swear the woman was Lauren Hutton yet I can't find the film under her name so probably a similar leading lady.

She played a rich woman who spent a lot of money on quick, brief relationships with men.  There was a fight, and the winner was a tall, muscular black guy.  She was peering through  the door to the locker room where the boxer was being sponge bathed.  She sent a guy in to negotiate for some time with him ans stood outside looking almost uncontrollably excited.  As I remember, the boxers agent said the guy wasnt too into women, and the other guy said 'I think she is more interested in his ability to withstand pain'.

Anyone remember it?

Possibly THE STING II (1983)?

I think you may have it, it's the right era and theme.  I'll check it out and let you know, thanks!

That reminds me of The Main Event:

I have not managed to find a full copy of 'Sting II', and it looks promising but I suspect it's not the one.  I doubt it's 'Main Event' either, I think this was a darker, slightly more adult movie.
