Title: HAMILTON: AN AMERICAN MUSICAL
Post by: indianasmith on July 04, 2020, 09:31:56 PM
I have listened to the soundtrack until I wore the CD out.
I went to see the stage production in Dallas, performed by the touring cast, and even though our seats were in the nosebleed section, I was still blown away by it.

But tonight I plunked down the $6.99 subscription fee for Disney Plus for the sole purpose of finally seeing the entire musical, performed by the original Broadway cast, professionally filmed.

ABSOLUTELY. FREAKING. BRILLIANT!!

I was literally in tears at three different points in the second act.  This musical is a national treasure, and the story it brings to life is a true American story that has so many lessons to teach us today.

You need to see this!!!   10/5

You best apologize now, before the BLM folk come to get ya.

Quote
“Hamilton,” the widely acclaimed musical about the “ten-dollar founding father,” Alexander Hamilton, may have had a record-breaking Disney+ debut, but it’s far from woke enough, it seems, for some leftists, who blame the production, and its creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, for ignoring real-world violence.

Both Miranda and “Hamilton” creator Jeffrey Seller were forced to apologize over the weekend for failing to adequately address the “Black Lives Matter” movement and for “taking part in the ‘moral failure’ of not speaking up amid the ongoing protests taking place across the nation over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

...

Personally, I find it rather hypocritical of Disney to promote this on Disney+ yet not have the courage to also include Song Of The South (1946) in their Disney+ rotation. But that's leftism for you, I guess.

This was originally filmed to be shown in theaters on October 15, 2021, but, because of the pandemic it was shown on Disney+ on July 3, 2020, but, despite what is said by Miranda, I still see, one of these days, this becoming a feature length film shown in theaters
