Post by: RCMerchant on September 01, 2020, 05:45:35 PM
My favorite is GATES OF HELL. It's just so crazy. None stop madness.

The only one I've ever seen is House By The Cemetery.....
Really left me scratching my head....

NEW YORK RIPPER. a masterpiece of sleaze-sploitation. I watch it about once a year it never loses its appeal to me

also LIZARD IN A WOMAN'S SKIN would be in my top 10 giallo list

weirdly I don't really care for his supernatural based stuff, which he seems to be most acclaimed for.

Not many of his movies make a lot of sense. But the reason to watch his movies is for the crazy gore.

With the Donald Duck voice!

City of The Living Dead was the first one I saw and I also like The Beyond.

Hard to top the bloody insanity of The Beyond. Got my vote.

"The Beyond". Fulci got the balance between gore and surrealism just right.

I'm not a big Fulci fan-- too many of his movies make ZERO sense and have the (usually female) victims just kind of sit there and accept their fate.  But the gore is usually really well done.  That said, ZOMBIE I feel is his most complete and coherent movie.  If I have Halloween off and think there might be trick or treaters (I think I've had one or two in the past 10 years!) I'll sit there with the candy bowl and usually watch ZOMBIE.  I would like to see CAT IN THE BRAIN and LIZARD IN A WOMAN'S SKIN someday; I kind of enjoyed DON'T TORTURE A DUCKLING.

I think this might be more of a giallo trope in general... I was just watching Lenzi's EYEBALL earlier and thought exactly the same thing. It's like erm you know you could actually just run away?

btw CAT IN THE BRAIN is a complete car crash of a film  but worth watching... very different approach/plot

Gotta go with New York Ripper. That movie is so sleazy and "New York" that you can practically smell the garbage and the hobo urine.

Plus, the first murder takes place on the Staten Island Ferry, and I rode that boat literally hundreds of times during my college years in NYC, haha.

I voted for Zombi only because it has a zombie underwater fighting a shark!

Don't bother wasting your time watching "CAT IN THE BRAIN"   It is literally a snore fest.  My roommmate and I nodded off sporadically throughout the film.   It was just a clip show of his previous movies to pad a 90 minute run time.  Great concept... just wasted a lot of filler time with clips from his previous movies too much.

Zombie is my favorite out of the ones I have seen.

Four of the Apocalypse is an honorable mention I enjoyed that not many have seen.  Fulci doing a western.  Who would have thought?  He did a couple others, but I haven't seen them yet.

Zombi 2 (1979) is really good because the ending feels more like a zombie apocalypse to me than any of Romero's zombie movies, but City Of The Living Dead (1980) does it for me because as far as I can tell, this is the only movie ever made that has teleporting zombies, and teleporting zombies kick ass!

I also love the nearly identical movie theme songs for both of these films. They are very catchy, and the upbeat score contrasts the darkness of the movies very well.
