Title: Mike Tyson Mysteries: Season Four
Post by: ER on September 03, 2020, 08:53:44 PM
Okay, I've had my share of disappointments in life----deaths, insane relatives, serial bad hair days, a runaway mother (not included among insane relatives but close), the brainwashing of a Jesuit education----but when my choice in entertainment fails, I don't know how much more I can take.

Oh, maaaan. Case in point. I waited so long to see this season of Mike Tyson Mysteries on Hulu and find the show has gone for the low-hanging fruit of too much crass, crude, perverse dick humor over just the right amount of crass, crude perverse dick humor it had in the first three seasons. There is a tipping point to this stuff, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia has been good at keeping this side of the line, South Park veers here and there, but this season MTM really has run off the road, and I fear sharks lie ahead. (Vans don't jump far either.)

Okay, to give you an idea, I've counted three clitoris jokes so far this season, and there were only two in the whole run of the show up to this point. Two! I mean who doesn't laugh at a clitoris joke? It's like when America's Funniest Videos shows a soccer coach getting kicked in the nads by a player: of COURSE you're gonna laugh, but where's the wit and artistry in it? I expected more from a show that featured a talking pigeon, a depressed Asian girl, Mike Tyson, and the ghost of the English aristocrat who accused Oscar Wilde of "posing as a sodomite." ("Posing" as a sodomite, yes. Ya can't make this s**t up. Oscar was posing...)

The way this delightful show has veered makes me sad.

What's next for season five, Scrappy Doo will become a series regular? Cousin Oliver? The cast of Star Trek Discovery? (Please God not that last one!!!!!!!!!)

Yup, 2020 does it again.

I did not even know this was even a thing.

And now that I know, I will do my best to forget.

I've seen it available and been tempted to watch out of sheer curiosity, but so far haven't watched it. It is on my to do list though.

Its an Adult Swim show, so you know its going to have a very wired/specific sense of humor.  You'll either get it or you won't.

Must admit, the season four finale had an interesting conclusion. It's not every show that
