Icicles and snow! and that magical blue snow hue

I was too lazy to take a walk and take pics but I might tomorrow. Gotta enjoy the winter while it lasts.

It’s pretty, but too cold. I prefer the summer.

I don't mind summer as long as temps don't go higher than 80 F. Anything above that and I'm literally suffering.

I rather snuggle up in a blanket enjoying a cup of hot tea rather than lying half naked and sweaty on a bed drinking 3 liters of water and taking a shower every hour.
But that's just me.

I don't like it if Summer temps highs are less than 90 F. Can't go swimming otherwise. I have air conditioning, though, so sleeping at night is not an issue.

We are thinking about getting air conditioning installed this year. Our apartment is under the roof so we get twice the heat every summer.
I always try to avoid outdoors activity in summer. Shopping usually in the early morning hours, and if we BBQ in the yard I will only sit in the shade. Public swimming pools are extremly over crowded in our town so I rather swim in some pond in the late afternoon like we did last year.

I work outdoors.  In Canada.  Winter is not fun.

This is the most snow we had in years. Snow in these parts became so rare I get excited when we get some. My nephews kids finally got to use their sledges for the first time. For years they only heard about snow and building snowmen, now they got to experience snow first hand, and they loved it.

Anyway, we are currently having mild weather again with plenty of rain and wind storms, but they are predicting cold weather for the weekend. I hate the extreme jumps in temps which has become a common thing in the last few years.

I'm too far west, so I missed the big blizzard that pummeled the east coast. But it's cold, and getting colder; the polar vortex is arriving this weekend. I can't wait for spring to get here.

Every season has good parts and bad but I think I like wintertime best.

I also think maybe we should recognize eight seasons where we live because one half of a season is usually predictably different from the other.

Low spring is chilly and still barren. High spring is warm and green and stormy.

Early summer is not that hot or humid, just sunny. Late summer is muggy and broiling.

Autumn is hot to warm, rainy, cool at night and has a lot in common with early summer. Fall is cold at night, chilly during the day, and it's when we get our colors in the tree leaves.

First winter has bare trees and mild cold weather, frosts, not much snow. True winter is cold, harsh, snowy.

Damn. Weather is predicting the temperature will go below freezing this Sunday and not get back to 32 F all next week! Not looking forward to this at all.  :hatred:

The air is cold and dry today with a strong(ish) wind. I am still expecting a cold rather than wet winter.

We had about a foot of snow, but more a little north.  I'm on the coast, so when it's damned cold, it's still warmer here.

We are likely to catch all this s**t tomorrow when a blizzard is gonna hit. So far, with all this s**t going on out east and in Chicago-we didn't get hit! It's been a sun-sun sun- sun shiney day!
I don't think that will last. We got the blizzard gonna happen today! Which is the day after yesterday!

They are predicting 6F for next week and up to 16 inches of snow. I feel like putting up my christmas decorations again  :teddyr:

I don't think New Orleans got below freezing in December and January. It's been low 40's, rarely in the high 30's/

I moved from California to Oregon about 15 years ago.  Winter was something I used to love, and now have come to dread.  I can't stand the cold, rain, and lack of sunshine.  Winter has just become really difficult for me, especially with COVID and being home all year.

People here are upset and confused because winter came back in winter  :bouncegiggle:
It is understandable as we haven't had a "decent" winter since the late 1990s, and folks aren't used to snow anymore it seems.
They are predicting 1,4 F for tonight and down to -11,2 F the next few days. I'm not surprised. It used to be like this in the good old days

Even Texas is getting in on this "winter" thing this year, after skipping it for the last decade or so.
High today of 18 degrees Fahrenheit, low tomorrow night at or below zero!
And 3-7 inches of snow in the forecast!  I am loving it!

It's 14 F. here and we got about a 10 inches of snow.
Now it fells like Michigan!

The thermometer isn't scheduled to peek above freezing until Sunday. :bluesad: Looks like we have between 1-2 inches of snow right now, with more on the way (6-8 inches total in today's snow, with more coming later in the week). As long as it's this cold I'd prefer there to be some snow---as long as it's plowed.

This wintery forenoon is as cold as my aunt, who told her third husband, "Just because I married you, does not mean you get to have sex with me."

Bet he wishes he would have known that BEFORE the wedding.    :buggedout:

It was so cold this morning, three degrees, that one of my dogs had a tiny little pee-sicle hanging off him for a second when he came back in.

We hit 2 below yesterday.  That is the coldest temperature I have ever experienced in my 57 years!
(By "experienced" I mean, stayed in bed till after 8 and didn't go outside until it was a balmy 10 degrees, later in the morning! LOL)

But I did do my annual barefoot run around the house when I went out.  Well, not really annual these days, but whenever we get enough snow.

My FB friend in Houston doesn't have running water, electricity or Internet because of the cold weather.
This has to do with natural gas failure due to extreme weather? I assume there's no way this can be fixed or "upgraded" so it won't happen again. It sucks either way.
