Title: Sequels you didn't know existed

Undercover Brother 2, released in 2019. Stunned they made a sequel but I have no desire to see this. From what I read it is pretty bad.

Based on the first one and how bad it was, I certainly would avoid this.

I liked the original Undercover Brother, but the 2nd (which I didn't know existed either, till it popped up on Netflix) was a waste. None of the original cast returned, and it looked like a pilot film for a cheap TV sitcom adaptation.

I found the original Undercover Brother quite funny actually.

What I didn't know is that there are two sequels to Deep Blue Sea and both were made in Cape Town  :buggedout:

The Wicker Tree (2011) is a companion piece to the original The Wicker Man (1973), both by the same director. Some say it is sort of a sequel but not really. Whatever it is, it got bad reviews.

I have a double DVD set of The Wicker Man and The Wicker Tree: the first one is great but The Wicker Tree is terrible with a really groan-worthy ending and it should have been left unmade. Sir Christopher Lee barely appears in it and he doesn't play Lord Summerisle.

until a couple of years ago I did not know there was a part 4 and 5 of the SCANNERS franchise: SCANNER COP, and SCANNERS: THE SHOWDOWN

Shock Treatment, the Rocky Horror Picture Show sequel, is one I did not know existed for a loooong time.

I think the Two Jakes, the sequel to Chinatown, is another.

The 1962 classic 'Lawrence of Arabia' got a made-for-TV sequel in 1992, 'A Dangerous Man: Lawrence After Arabia'.

I only found out recently that there are two unofficial - and illegal - Chinese made sequels to The Gods Must Be Crazy 2.

I recently learned that there's a sequel to TITANIC, and it seems to be hilariously bad.

I guess most people probably know there was a TV sequel to Rosemary's Baby called Look What's Happened to Rosemary's Baby (1976).

It is awful even by TV standards, and it is more of a The Omen rip off.

Title: Re: Sequels you didn't know existed
Post by: pennywise37 on August 25, 2021, 07:49:55 PM
well that sequel can't be worse than the 1st film my god that's one of the worst movies i've ever seen in my life the only thing about that film i even remember at all is the ending. the rest is forgettable at least for me it is.

i did know about Titanic 2 though i haven't seen it what's it about the boat gets revenge against a block of ice for sinking it in the 1st place? that actually would be a fun film to watch on how stupid of an idea that is

I don't think I was aware there was an OMEN 4  until I randomly saw it on dvd and bought it a couple of years ago... it's terrible, and weirdly also seems to be squarely aimed at pre-teens? It's like a kids film iirc...

there's a TROLL 3, and a DEMONS 3, but they're not true sequels. - however TROLL 2 was not connected to the first one either

if you want to go even further than that there are 2 Troll 3's and neither of them have a damn thing to do with the 2nd or the 1st film

in that case I have seen one of the TROLL 3s... it seemed to be mostly set in a cave, but my memory is bad. (maybe one for the caveman thread?)

I know people who have seen both UNBREAKABLE and SPLIT, without even knowing they're part of the same series. GLASS suffered the same fate.

that's not surprising at all, Troll 3 part 1 let's call it has a couple different titles one of them that Charles Band out out is called The Crawlers'  and it's about killer trees.  Band had nothing to do i don't think in the making of it i think he just put it, if youv'e seen that video? that he did with Roger Corman hew was talking about how he was forced to put stuff out back in the empire days that he really didn't want to cause it didn't fit the type of films they made.

my point is i wonder if The Crawlers (1993) was one of them?   and the other one let's call it Troll 3  part 2. Ator 3 or 4 i forget MSTK3000 did one. and i think there was a 3rd maybe? check out the cinema snob list cause he did label them as Troll 3 part one and 2 etc.. that's where i got that from in fact.

i enjoy the 1st one (1986) it's a cheesy as hell film but it's fun as hell.  i think i did see the omen tv movie i can't remember offhand or i may be thinking of the awful amityville films there has to be around #30 of those now and i wish i was making that up

Here's a good recap of the whole TROLL confusion, if you like to watch. It's mainly about the exploding monkey part in TROLL 2, funny stuff.

The Hitcher II:  I've Been Waiting

This one lacks the star power of Rutger Hauer and instead it has Jake Busey.  In a nice little bit of serendipity when I was looking up to see how Jack was relate to Gary Busey (My guess was going to be brother, but I was wrong.  It's his son.) I found that Jake Busey was also in Roadhouse II.

And also on the subject of sequels that you didn't know existed that feature Jake Busey... he was in Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3.

Didn't know there was a 3 did you?

I bought this on DVD when it first came out. Sony/Columbia always had a habit of doing "low key" direct-to-video sequels like Single White Female 2: The Psycho, Walking Tall: The Payback (2007) and Walking Tall: Lone Justice (2007) (sequels to the 2004 remake of Walking Tall starring the Rock), Vacancy 2: The First Cut (2008), Glass House: The Good Mother (2006) (a thematic sequel to The Glass House) and tons more.

i remember when Roadhouse 2 came out i haven't seen it myself but i also did know about Single white Female 2 as well.

there's also 3 Cruel Intentions films as well the 2nd one was a Pilot for a tv show if i recall that wasn't picked up by maybe showtime?  and they just made it a made for video sequel

It has its unintentional funny moments and plenty of stylized cheese. It's a fun bad movie.

there's also 3 Cruel Intentions films

They also did three Wild Things sequels, and a sequel to Screamers which I thought was ok for a low budget direct to video sequel.

i remember when Screamers came out in (1995) it looked damn good and it was a meh film it wasn't great but it wasn't overly awful either it was an okay film.

i cannot tell you how many people for years said to me or i talked to on how good that movie is well they were all wrong. much like when i was in high school some friends of mine went and saw Species (1995) and came back saying how good the movie was and how awesome.. etc...

it's not the big thing they loved was the nudity in that film i think. the film is a meh film as well. and i've only seen parts 1-3 the 2nd sucked ass the 3rd one was decent i did not like the ending though.

i just found about that recently too i'm not the most religious guy and i have nothing against anyone who is but those films are films that don't send a good message they are terrible films. even my mom who isn't the most religious person either doesn't watch them cause of how bad they are she once in a blue moon will watch a religious movie. she even avoids this series what does that tell you?

One crit I read about the original movie is that it makes atheists out to be the worst people: I have a few friends who are atheists and they are good, genuine people, at least to me. Oh and they don't mind that I have religious beliefs. I would actually rather speak to an open minded atheist than to a close minded Christian any day.

check out the cinema snob episodes of the god's not dead films and yes they make them out to be the worst kind of people possible it's f... up i think. though i do believe to i can respect your choice if you choose not to. i'm not gonna hold it against you ya know? i think we can all agree on there's plenty of religious people who are far worse than if you aren't religious but than that's not everyone who is religious of course thank god

You're not missing much.  Part VI has Bruce Payne as a vampire, and he's always fun, but that's about the only highlight I can remember and I've seen them all.  Video stores in America throughout the late 80s and through the 90s would almost always have Howling 1-7 for some reason, super common here.

There's also a heavily Twilight influenced newer one (maybe 8 years old now?), which is watchable but bad.

you are wrong there also one or two or was it 3 they made last decade or so now those i haven't seen my favorite one is actually part 3 and always has been.

part 4 wow was that painfully bad but i'd say part 7 the Full Moon one was the worst one thus far well that i've seen anyways. that one was so low budget it was shot on s**tteo  as what i call it which really means it was shot a VHS camera aka News reel camera  with the best actors from your local K-mart can buy

I actually bought Howling 7 on VHS when it was available for sale, along with The Boogens (1981) which had its VHS debut around the same time in the late 90s. Ahhh, memories. I had never seen Howling 7 before and didn't expect much. It was awful but kind of grew on me after repeated viewings.
I should note that my VCR was equipped with Dolby Surround, and was connected to my stereo tower which had a VCR/Dolby input plug and Dolby output for three speakers. Howling 7 was encoded in Dolby, surprisingly. The audio had a decent level of ooompf with minor surround effects. All this didn't make the movie better but the song they perform, "Stand Up!", sounded great on my system  :teddyr:

I eventually got a copy from a website specializing in out of print movies (Cinema Du Bizarre I think it was, they went out of business a good while back so I guess it doesn't really matter) in the early 2000's. Anyway, that was the first film that I decided I had to track down and watch.

It's like a Polonia Brothers movie with a $150,000 budget. Here's some Trivia: It was most likely shot in 1993, but not released until 1995. It was filmed in Pioneer Town and made use of locals as actors and Pappy & Harriet's, a legendary honky-tonk barbecue restaurant and music venue.

The owner "Pappy" had a small part in the movie. He died in February 1994 so the film had to be shot before that. Folk singer Victoria Williams recorded a song to remember Pappy. It is called Happy to Have Known Pappy

I wasn't really aware of The Boogens until Fangoria did a piece on it to announce its VHS debut. Apparently the movie never had a home video release in the U.S. due to rights issues. I bought the tape at an U.S. Army Installation here in Germany where I bought and rented most of my VHS movies. Loved the Stephen King quote on the cover praising the movie, and I quite enjoyed The Boogens. Bought it on blu-ray a few years ago. It's still a favorite.

HOWLING PART 7 is amazing.

first came across it on youtube, back when the max length for uploads was 10 minutes. someone had uploaded it in about 9 parts, and even with a serious hangover at the time I knew I was witnessing so-bad-it's-good nirvana. at least for me.

took me a long time to track down a dvd copy, the one I have is german release in a slimline case. (with english audio option obviously.)... most recent re-watch was just last week. honestly I love this film so much, haha. It's such an unbelievably awkward piece of work. every couple of minutes some random stuff happens where you think "really?".

of the other HOWLING sequels, part 5 is quite campy and fun, and part 3 is demented to the point I find it a bit too over the top. Parts 2, 4, and 6 are meh...

actually there is that more recent sequel/reboot from about 10 years ago, which I didn't know about till recently. not seen it but from all accounts it's similar to the TWILIGHT movies so I'm not that desperate to check it out --- edit, I see Jim H just mentioned this, and made the comparison too...

That's my opinion too.  I definitely had the most fun with part 2 of the sequels.  It literally has a montage over the end credits that repeatedly shows Sybil Danning rip her top open.  It has an incredibly 80s theme song.  Christopher Lee.  One of the alternate parts of the title is "Werewolf b***h".  It's amusingly bad, to me anyways.

I think part III is one of the worst films I've ever seen, I don't know if I could ever watch it again it's so irritating and boring.  But, it has such a weird and unique feel and tone, I could see people with very different taste than me loving it, so hey.

Also, thinking back again, I'm not sure if I've seen New Moon Rising, so I may have to rewatch/watch it for completeness sake.  I'm positive I saw the VHS a bunch of times at my rental store, but I may not have actually rented it.  Fun fact: It's free for those with Amazon Prime!  I'll watch it soon.

i think you are the first person i've talked to either online or offline who loved part 7.   i loved part one growing up not so much now but i'm prolly gonna get the 4K  version of it when that comes out later this year cause who knows maybe my mind will change on it. part 2 i loved growing up as well not so much now, really what  i really love about part 2 is two things. 1 that Christopher Lee Apologized to Joe Dante for even being in part 2.  and 2.  Lee i dunno if you guys knew this or if i've said this already i honestly can't remember on how in the  town?  village ? where they shot part 2 back in WW2 he was there and saved apparently saved a number of lives. he goes there to shoot the film and they throw him a f... parade!   the director i forget who was shocked that this even was happening.

Lee like a lot of vets i'm sure don't talk about the stuff they did during the war.  Lee also did a lot Classified stuff that is still Classified from what i hear as well.
so i think him being there to take a guess was one of his missions that wasn't known and maybe still isn't i dunno?  anyways that's pretty cool i think.

as for part 3 i dunno why i love it i just do it's a cheesy ass film that's really completely bonkers and makes no sense at all. and i love it, part 4 was painful to sit through part 5 was pretty bad, Part 6 i actually liked and thought was pretty good i didn't expect that. 7 was so bad that well it was a chore to sit through there's plenty of movies i love that many consider bad. like i love Maximum overdrive (1986) and it's one of my all time favorite movies

people hate it with a passion i dunno why but they do. Howling 7 i get why people hate. i haven't seen any of the others, Part 4 is really a really painful remake of part 1. i think part 4 is said to follow the book  even more than part 1. i dunno if that's true or not or how much more it did follow it i haven't read the book yet. but this is a series that really does need to die

i think you are the first person i've talked to either online or offline who loved part 7.   i loved part one growing up not so much now but i'm prolly gonna get the 4K  version of it when that comes out later this year

surely I cannot be the only person that appreciates the genius of part 7... there must be 1 other person out there. reveal thyself

the original is really good. I used to  prefer it to AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, but watching them both again  recently, nah... AWIL is definitely the better film

what's funny is growing up i loved both of those films as i'm a huge Joe Dante fan, but in recent years i dunno why i just don't care for The Howling (1981) as much as i used to.  but American Werewolf in London (1981) is a f... masterpiece in my book.

i never did see the sequel but i hear it's pretty bad anyways. last i heard they were gonna remake the 1st one i dunno if they ever did though

i'm just amazed there's like 30 no joke around 30 if not 30 that maybe higher? last count it was 23 but that was awhile ago of the Amityville horror films \\
my question is uh why?  the early ones made money okay but these past oh i dunno 15 or more films they can't make that much money cause they are such bottom of the barrel films that they aren't worth the print the film is pressed on or something along the lines of that.

i know movies are digital films are what filmmakers  normally use that but   i was trying to come up with a good example and that's about as far as i got. it's been a long day so bear with me

I've completely lost count of the number of Hellraiser sequels. They've gotta be up into the double digits with that series by now.

I got up to 8 and then I lost interest.

Same. I quit after Hellraiser: Revelations (2011) . They did Hellraiser: Judgment in 2018, and they are planning a remake for 2022.

i lost count as well how many Hellraiser films there are now, was any of the films after part 4 written as Hellraiser scripts? i know ones after that were scripts that weren't intended Hell Raiser films but were changed to be but were any of them that were made in recent years were written as such?

I think Hellraiser VI Hellseeker was one of those, I could be wrong, but I think so.

I knew there are sequels to Bring It On (2000) but I never knew how many. I just checked:

Bring It on: Again (2004)
Bring It on: All or Nothing (2006)
Bring It on: In It to Win It (2007)
Bring It on: Fight to the Finish (2009)
Bring It on: Worldwide #Cheersmack (2017)

American Pie (1999) had three regular sequels, and five direct-to-video sequels:

American Pie Presents: Band Camp (2005)
American Pie Presents: The Naked Mile (2006)
American Pie Presents: Beta House (2007)
American Pie Presents: The Book of Love (2009)
American Pie Presents: Girls' Rules (2020)

HELLRAISER: JUDGEMENT is almost unwatchable. It does have some cool ideas, yet poorly executed, and the resulting movie is complete garbage.
