I prefer other Blaxploitation films of the era like Foxy Brown, Coffy, Cleopatra Jones, Black Caesar, Dolemite and others for a variety of reasons however that doesn't take away from Shaft's importance. It help made the genre go mainstream.

COFFY
is one of my favorite films, and FOXY BROWN is a smorgasbord of delights.

Same here. Iconic? Sure. A good movie? Not really.
