I'd love to see Patrick Stewart explaining how Captain Picard had once been a medieval knight (Excalibur). But like these movies it's superficial, dealing with personal characterization and using the exotic setting mostly as a backdrop. The set pieces are great, but as a message "pity about your country, but the war gave us such a great rush" lacks depth.
