This is one of them. I dunno why. I was only 7 years old when I first heard this song. It was 1969. Apparently that was not young white male music, but I didn't care. I just couldn't relate to metal and punk.
(https://i.imgur.com/OyeVeo6l.jpg) The closest I got to rock and punk was the Dirty Mind album by Prince. He would blend punk with funk, pop, soul, rock and new wave, creating his own unique sound. Powell on January 24, 2023, 03:24:00 PM I heard "Ode to Billy Joe" for the first time as a kid on an album of crossover country hits and it stuck with me. Still one of my all-time faves, fantastic songwriting.

Powell on January 25, 2023, 09:43:25 AM I never listened to punk until I got to high school. Never liked it much, but all the kids I wanted to hang out with listened to it, so I tolerated it. It was better than the pop music of the time, at least (80s).

It wasn't til my teens I got into rock, alternative, classic rock, even contemporary pop. I haven't listened listened to classical that much in this century.
