Title: IMDb "Bottom 1000" (2020s)
Post by: claws on August 06, 2023, 08:09:22 AM
Low rated 2020s movies that made it into IMDb's Bottom 1000 list. How many have you seen?

13 of them, although I wouldn't say any of them were the worst films of the decade so far (I'd say the worst on the list that I've seen is Blood & Honey and even that wasn't terrible, it was just joyless and unimaginative, but not actually painful to watch).

Oh well, it'd be a boring world if we all agreed.

1 !!

FANTASY ISLAND

It's actually decent enough for a one-time-only watch. slightly sharper humour than you'd expect from a new horror. (virtually zero connection to the tv series)

Looks like 3: CAPONE (funny), SKINAMARINK (I get why people wouldn't like it, but doesn't belong on this list), IN THE EARTH (definitely doesn't belong on the list). I've seen some worse than these that didn't get around enough for people to vote them down.

F9: The Fast Saga (2021) -- I feel this was... ok at best

Spiral (2021) - I really liked this

I also see other movies listed that I want to see as options on the poll  :buggedout: :buggedout:

I missed " Prisoners of the Ghostland (2021)" when voting, which wasn't great, but once again not bottom 1000 bad.

SKINAMARINK (I get why people wouldn't like it, but doesn't belong on this list)

Never heard of this. From what I read it is not for conventional horror audiences. It seems like one of the reasons some dislike it because it is "ungodly slow". That could be a deal breaker for many, because audience these days have zero patience.

I might have to check it out.

Eight - Halloween Ends, The Forever Purge (which I actually liked!), Cosmic Sin, Thunder Force, Wonder Woman 84, the 2022 Firestarter and Texas Chainsaw remakes, and The New Mutants.

It's an experimental art movie, and that's not what people were expecting to see on Shudder. I didn't think it was great, but the director nailed the vibe he was going for, which saves it from bottom 1000 status IMO.

It gets a lot of mentions on the horror boards, seems to be very divisive. Its on my to watch at some point list.

I have enough problems with my own bottom, never mind the IMDb bottom 1000  :buggedout:

9:
I actively disliked both MORBIUS and SPIRAL, and would agree that the last 20-25 minutes of WW84 earn it a place of shame in the an(n)als of Cinema.

FOREVER PURGE is probably my favorite PURGE!

NEW MUTANTS... ranks for me in the Top 3rd of X-MEN films... which is not to say it's great (none of them are), but most of them are worse. Plus NEW MUTANTS has Maisie Williams, so, it Wins.

Just 1 - Wonder Woman 1984. I have it on 3-D blu-ray. It's not very awe inspiring, I'll say that.

...It inspired me to say "Aw(e) noooooooo, I can't believe they went there..."

Of all the DC missteps, easily the most appalling... particularly considering how almost universally satisfying the first one was...

Haven't watched any. Most of the newer movies I've seen are actually highly rated, although I would put them on this list if it were by me, because they sucked major ass. There were some exceptions, luckily.

Was about to say none, but then realized Wonder Woman 1984 was in there. I liked it tbh, best film Zack Snyder has been attached to.

Surprised Skinamarink is on here, though... I still wanna see that one, I kinda like that sort of thing, I think. Since "the schism," I haven't been watching very many movies.
