Title: bad action guily pleasures
Post by: J.R. on July 09, 2002, 12:49:44 AM
Does anyone else find a guilty pleasure in direct-to-video action movies like the shown on late night Cinemax sandwiched between softcore porn? The ones starring the likes of Dolph Lundgren and Michael Dudikoff. I especially enjoy (and I can't explain why) the Substitute sequels starring Treat Williams. There 's some great stuff about cyborg cops ans long-lost twins.

I would not say it is a "guilty" pleasure but maybe sinful. It seems that the only time you can find anything like that to watch late at night when nothing else is on, is when you catch the ending of a softcore porn and see the next movie coming on. I guess they do it to get the veiwer interested in watching their channel. I know it seems that the TV guide printed up in the paper on Saturdays never has anything listed that seems to actually be on.

Yeah MPix sometimes has some bad action movies. I used to be a huge action movie fan in '97 and rented alot of Direct to video crapfests. Like THE BASE, THE BASE 2, SOLDIERS OF FORTUNE.. .did anyone see this one? It was like, one action scene repeated over and over and over and over and over. Literally, they kept showing like 5 - 8 flashbacks of the same action sequence. THAT was a hard movie to watch.
