Title: When Reptiles Attack
Post by: Susan on August 10, 2002, 01:52:05 PM
no, it's not a b-movie, but a news blooper. Thought everyone might enjoy this - it was on our local news yesterday and man it gets funnier with every viewing.

Thank you for that Susan.  All over a poor little gecko!

I have seen stuff like this any number of times, since I am often outdoors and known to check out nature.  Scare the pants off mom with a six foot rat snake?  Check.  Take a huge bullfrog to school for show and tell?  Check.  Catch a very large wolf spider that was in my house, with my bare hands, and drop him safely outside?  Check.  That last is almost a weekly duty, since we live in the woods.  I don't catch them with my hands very often anymore though, after getting bit twice.  Cannot blame them for biting, but now I catch them with an empty VHS slip case.

Geckos are cool! In the philippines we used to have them all in the house, they made chirping noises tho and were bigger than the ones here in the states. They were like pets, and if you scare them they make their tail fall off and wiggle to distract you. We loved em, they were like indoor pets that had the run of the house, I heard from a relative who was stationed in hawaii they had the same deal there. I've noticed quite a few in the house the past few weeks..must be the weather here (unusual for dallas). Yeah I loved weird animals growing up. We brought home a garden snake as kids, and of all things my very first pet was a preying mantis..i don't remember how long i kept him except that i became exceptionally skilled at catching live flies to feed him. ;-) Kinda cool seeing them around here, can't believe what a wuss that anchorman was about it. Dignity shot forever in the archives of news bloops!
