Title: Visited the Evil Dead Cabin
Post by: Akira Tubo on August 20, 2002, 09:31:37 AM
Since I live close to Morristown, Tennessee, it was only natural that I should visit it.  I used to live *in* Morristown, actually, but never made the trip.

It was kind of disappointing, since the place has long been destroyed and it was really, really dark.  Also, I threw the only loose brick, which I wanted for a souvenier, down a big hole.  Oops.

Anyway, if you do get the chance to come to Morristown and see the Evil Dead Cabin, do it during the day so you don't fall in said big holes.

There are actually two cabins. The one from the first Evil Dead, which indeed burn down, and the second, which was also used in Spielberg's The Color Purple. One's in Tennessee, one's in Kentucky.

Did I not say it has been destroyed for many, many years?  There was nothing but some roofing metal, a foundation slab, and what's left of a chimney.

And a hole.

Umm, stupid question; If you wanted to keep it, why did you throw down the hole?

I can't really say I "dropped" it because, when I saw the hole, I stopped just short of falling in and threw the brick to keep from overbalancing.  The brick just happened to go right down the hole because I'm a lousy throw.
