Thank you again

there is a difference between being PC and being downright racist. I don't think you see that here josh. I never really liked you, posting multiple threads in one sitting, most of them being about the same thing, or something like "I'm the king of evil dead questions". I just decided to keep my mouth shut because I knew you woulden't last long. You don't make friends by insulting them. As I said in another thread, this is a very relaxed board and I don't think there isn't a person on here that I don't like. I hope it stays that way.

Nice to see that the real Josh Patrick finally decided to show his true colors.

You won't be missed.

Josh, Josh, Josh--you sad little fool. Should you use a friend's computer to read this: MUCH brighter dinks than you have dropped their pants and waved their behinds in Andrew's crosshairs, only to find their asses shot off and served up to them every time. (Figuratively speaking, of course.) They all take the smartassed "Whatta ya gonna do? Huh? Huh?" approach, and all end sobbing and shrieking as their mothers chase them through the house beating them with a hairbrush. (I have to assume you're approximately twelve, given your posts.)

Enjoy.

You give the rest of the Little Yellow Bus a bad name.

I really tried to like you,but you don't dare mess with any of my homies here on this board,Fangoria's,or any other message board, since all of those boards have folks that are as close as family that won't put up with any more of your utter nonsense, nor insufferable profanity, and aren't sheer afriad to use their flying fists and kicking feet to bravely prove it.
I suggest that you head on down to Blabbermouth's website, and stay permanently over there, since that is where your severe dorkiness fits best, alongside all of the other dorks and lower forms of life that regularly populate that pukeable board(too bad for some of the more intelligent ppls there that try to add some intelligence there, but that don't do no good for those ingrates over there).
Otherwise, just very wisely take Bruce Campbell's advice, and "Get Outta Here!!!" That's right ; "Get Outta Here!!!"
              Nuff Said!!!

Title: Memo To Andrew

Sorry,Andrew, but we ppls are all sticking together against this horrible excuse of a human being, and are begging he get himself away from here, with his nasty disrespectful attitude,as soon as possible. We all tried to be really nice and respectful to him,but he just exists here to be crude and offensive to every single person that  peacefully posts here.
Don't mean to be rude nor hasty, when dealing with this guy,but you probably know how to properly deal with this fellow...

Well put Steven. Josh seemed like a cool guy at first. Then it got weird. Now with his last couple of posts. This is supposed to be a fun site to come to. Josh was wrecking that. If thinks he'll be missed, he's got another thing coming.

The first time I ever saw an IP address I knew what it was for.

This is the problem with the anonymity of the Internet.  Gives you the false feeling of Invincibility.

What a sad, sad little man...er, being. Took the post about haveing aids at face value...and got hosed for it. Andrew is not to be taken lightly, or dissed. neither are we. Be gone, vile lout. Just be gone.

I had a suspicion about our little trollish miscreant josh patrick when I saw that he had used my handle/name on some of his postings one weekend (when I am AWAY from the computer).  I alerted Andrew via e-mail and vowed to ignore him (jp, NOT Andrew)), no matter how deep his little posts dug under my skin -luckily they didn't get far at all, once I understood that he was doing so to enflame other posters with his irritating doggerel it was easy.  I am glad that he has been black balled from the site and hope that our discussions will continue with the usual mixture of respect, irreverence, and affection.

i have been on vacation for a week in hawaii and have no clue what is going on.  i guess it had something to do with the "i have aids/i don't have aids" posts but could someone enlighten me further.

Title: Re: confused
Post by: Cullen on September 23, 2002, 05:09:25 PM
josh patrick was an irritant of the first order.  First was the AIDS thing, then there was this whole strange series of posts where he's gone due to his mistreatment over the AIDS thing (he claimed cousin did it; a few of the other Boarders didn't buy it), followed by his "triumphant" return.  There were a few normal posts (one of which looked strangely like another person).  In amidst this was his confessing that there was no cousin, that he did the whole thing.

Finally, he posted a racial slur. Andrew responded that this was inappropriate behavior, and gave josh an opportunity to back off.

Rather than do that, josh continued to act the idjit child, as you can see on this thread and the slur thread.  In short, he called Andrew names and asked him what he was going to do about it.

Andrew responded promptly by banning josh from the site.  We have yet to hear from him.  Which is good.

Incidentally, if you're ever curious about the previous posts of an author on this board, you can always use the
  Search function  (http://www.badmovies.org/bbs/search.php?f=2).

a while back wasn't there some similar situation (or maybe not that similar) that involved some kid's mom yelling at Andrew?  just a vague recolection of mine from years past.  i could be completely wrong though.

Check the Mail Page.  I think that's what you're thinking of.  (There was another bozo who did something simular on the Jabootu Boards, but I don't think he drifted over here.)

A post appeared over at Jabootu with some very familiar sounding grammer...and the proximity to the banning of our dear departed josh patrick made me wonder...

Title: Re: Not Josh!
Post by: Andrew on September 24, 2002, 06:14:47 PM
Here is an explanation I posted over at the Jabootu board:

*************************************
I have the answer for this.  The person in question is not "josh patrick."

Unfortunately, you are on my Deny list since it seemed that you were using some type of program to download my entire website.  That really is no problem; the problem was that you have a cable modem, DSL, or other high-speed line and were causing the site to bog for others.  That is why I put you on Deny.  I will go and remove that after posting this, but ask that you please not cause the website to bog down.  The program you have might have a "speed limit" that you can set to keep it from causing too much traffic too quickly.

The background behind this is that my server's line is pretty much always running at max and I keep an eye on a number of things.  Hacking attacks = Deny.  Spammers looking for open relays = Deny.  Anyone who is sucking down the whole website and making it suck for other readers = Deny.

I usually take the Deny off after a few days, but keep a history in case one becomes a problem.
*************************************

Now, here is a question for all.  Am I too draconian?  My main concern is to make sure everyone can visit the site and not be frustrated.

On a side note.  I did receive an email from "Dan Patrick" apologizing and asking me to remove the block (he has tried to get in a few times a day).  I refused, because I do not like people who act like he did.  Again - too draconian?

Title: Re: Whoops? Yes. Draconian?
Post by: Chadzilla on September 24, 2002, 06:30:11 PM
No.  I think that certain rules need to be set and followed and, most importantly, ENFORCED so the greatest number can enjoy the benefits of the site.  Many a site has been ruined for me by trolls, and I do not frequent a board or two because I was on the receiving end of a robust on unwarranted flaming.  I think that dan/josh/skeeeepy and whoever else he was identifying himself as, was given a heck of a lot of rope before getting his bootie kicked off the site.  As for the other individual (I will post something over there to clarify and apologize my own rush to judgment posting, but the grammar usage was so dang close).

Although I do get rather wrong headed at times I always try to remember that this board is not my house or my party.  I am a guest here and I should treat all as I would want myself to be treated by others.  Toes get stepped on and apologies or clarifications should be offered instead of insults.

I think you have been doing a swell job of things Andrew and have handled just about every situation as a complete gentleman.

Visiting this site is a privledge, NOT a right and that privledge can be revoked if we make things too unpleasent for others.

Title: Re: The Latest
Post by: Andrew on September 24, 2002, 07:30:36 PM
Josh is a little upset with me (his email):

Ya, know i think this is the start of something hateful! It was always me!
there is no daniel! i will f**king find you and kill your ass, and if you
change you e-mail i will find out what it is. as long as its posted! i have
friends and i will find you. i want to find your baby and cum in its mouth.
i hope badmovies is prepared for a virus of my creation. you might as well
shut the f**king site down or i will for you. do not underestimate me.

If he decides to play I may have to require registration to post (apologies there).  Should he actually come anywhere near my family, for some psycho reason, I will deal with him.

However, I think a police officer will be visiting his home soon.

Title: Re: The Latest

i think you should start a new section to go with the mailbag.  "the idiocy of josh patrick".  i would read it everyday

Title: Re: The Latest
Post by: Chadzilla on September 24, 2002, 07:44:18 PM
Gonna send in the coppers?  I certainly hope you do.  I think the kid has a weak grasp on what hateful is, but should get a lesson real soon.

And there are some abusive images I do not appreciate having stuck in my head.  Ick.

Frankly I think the only virus he could spread would be influenza or something, and since he doesn't live anywhere near me (thank God) then I think I'm okay.

Whatta loser!

And Mailbag updates would prove entertaining, if they aren't TOO ugly.

Title: The iosh Issue
Post by: Cullen on September 24, 2002, 07:51:08 PM
Jesus Christ.

Pardon me here, but what the hell's wrong with him?  Not getting your way justifies  giving vile threats?  When the hell'd that start?  Where the hell's this guy's parents when they could do some good?

What a petty little monster.

Incidentally, I didn't think you were being draconian before this.  I sure as hell don't think you're being draconian now.  Even if he's a kid, all of this is way out of line.

Title: Gotta love the internet

Imagine before the internet was ever created, where would such a freak be able to vent his frustrations.  I've met a few people who it seems the internet brings out the worst in them, and this sad boy takes the cake.  Despite how pathetic, angry or egotistic they get this is the first time I've seen someone resort to death threats.  Send Beat Takeshi (Violent Cop) or Dirty Harry to his house Andrew.  Maybe have the Bad Lieutenant as backup.

Personally I don't think anything at all will happen, nor will he do anything.
I do think that Andrew has a good idea in contacting the authorities, as it is clear to me that the child has a mental illness & that this needs to be addressed.  I think he's in some pain, & maybe Andrew's bringing legal attention to bear will help him in the long run.   Where are his parents?

Yeah, as a sixteen year old male this is the stuff that p**ses me off.  People like Josh make anything i say seem less respectable because I'm just a kid.  It's frustrating.

I'm fully with you on the bandwidth problem.  Keeping a comfortable download speed for all the people who visit your site should be the main focus, as opposed to making it easy for one person just because they have the capacity.  Especially considering all the regulars you have just trying to use the message board.

As for mr. patrick, I don't think it would be very far off to state that this board was almost his only social outlet.  Probably some deeper problems that hopefully he'll work through someday.

Of course you were right to ban him.  Over-zealous posting is no problem, but active trolling and finally verbal abuse is no way to act.  One must be prepared to deal with the consequences of acting like a dumb-ass psycho.

And I don't think you have much cause for concern as far as his threats go.  I would doubt very much that he has any real understanding of the reality of the people he is dealing with.  Maybe he just thinks we're all blips on his computer screen.

I don't know.  Weird kid.  I think everybody agrees you did the right thing.

Title: No threat
Post by: Dano on September 24, 2002, 11:42:56 PM
Definitely call the cops if it gives you peace of mind, but this guy isn't a threat.  I doubt he even has a mental illness.  He's just a bored kid (maybe several) acting out like a tough guy on the internet probably because it gives him all the thrill and none of the risk.  He typed out a lot of threatening crap in that last e-mail (the lewd remark that doesn't bear repeating just screams out "teenager looking for a reaction" -- no offense to Pancho and other teenagers who use their heads) and I guarantee went straight off to some other web site and started all over.  If he doesn't come back through another IP address (I don't know if he's even figured that out yet), he'll have forgotten about Badmovies.org in a week and will be harassing some other group of people.

If his parents don't want to look after him the least they could do is buy the kid a f***ing playstation or something.  Anyway, count me in the "not too draconian" category.

Oh, man, not only were you not "draconian" (now meesa gets a picture from "Buck Rogers" in my head), but I would not hesitate to bust the little effer over that barrage of sick threats.

If he doesn't get the help / wake-up call he obviously needs, he will ramp it up (not towards you, I think--I don't imagine he's serious, BUT people have been wrong about that before) with someone else until he does something truly awful...or gets done truly awful. That little bucket of scum has some seriously miswired synapses. (Now meesa gets a picture of the end of "The Paperboy" in my head...)

Startling that these "people" are out there, isn't it? I've run into a few in my time, including death threats, over on the b-movie list.  (Last one I had, I called out:  I gave him my home address and told him to call ahead so I'd have film in the camera to snap some pictures of his ass being bounced around my front lawn.)

It's people like this that make you wish the internet were a little more difficult, hm?

No problem here with the bandwidth limitation. I also think you should turn him in, even though I'm sure nothing will come of it.

Several years ago, while I was still calling local BBS's, something similar happened. A guy I knew let a bunch of guys come over (aged 17-20 or so) to copy software and while he was out of the room for a minute, they snooped through his notebook and found his passwords to a few of the local boards. They then used his passwords to get access to the pirate section of at least one BBS and then started sending death threats to the sysop saying that they were going to be waiting for him some night, kill his son etc unless he gave them complete sysop access to the board. I don't know if he ever reported them, but I know nothing ever came out of it. I met the jerks once and they basically took everything as a big joke. They thought it was funny to scare people, hack people's passwords etc. In short, they were losers with no life. :-/
