Title: Zeus cut the legs off the whales?
Post by: Andrew on September 22, 2002, 12:03:49 PM
"Hedwig and the Angry Inch" is the parent of that interesting thought (the subject line).  The film is much like "Pink Floyd The Wall," much of the story is told through songs.  Hedwig is the object of a botched sex change operation, hence the title, and also a musician whose music was stolen.  In search of recognition, justice, and love - Hedwig tours the United States singing in small restaurants.

The music is actually pretty good (the filmmakers knew that the best song was "The Origin of Love"), the acting is also above par, and the film has quirky touches.  Some made me feel a little uncomfortable, but the script is not intended to disturb the audience.  It is out to tell a story in its own strange way.

The only real problem that jumped out was when the movie ended.  Three songs in a row was a little too much.  They probably should have had two songs and one normal scene to finish the plot.

I don't know.  Hillbillys in a Haunted House ended with like seven to ten songs in a row.  (Really.)  And that *totally* worked.
