Title: Elvis Post by: AndyC on October 16, 2002, 10:15:06 AM Anybody watch old Elvis movies? I've been avoiding them for years, so I haven't seen one since I was a kid (can't say I've seen a whole one ever).
The other night, there was nothing interesting on, so we watched Viva Las Vegas. What a hoot. Elvis as a singing race car driver in a movie that mostly amounts to a string of excuses for him to sing and dance. The story was incredibly silly. I was reminded of Eddie Murphy's old routine about how "Elvis sang so good, they let him do movies he couldn't act." Ann-Margret stole the show however. Her dance numbers were great. The choreography was sloppy as hell by today's standards, and Ann, who couldn't act at all in those days (check out her facial expressions), danced like she was having a seizure. Great movie. |
