I remember watching this film on cable several years ago and the strongest memory is Edward Furlong whinning like a 12 year-old girl. He has some dialog with with a werid-ass looking dude and starts to complain - "It's not fair! (now think of that line with Furlong's high pitched voice - you remember it, he did the same thing in Terminator 2 when explaining to Arnold not to kill people). I don't like Edward Furlong in this movie, he lacks the ability to make you feel for this character - although I'm sure he knew that this piece of crap was headed straight for Video Update's 2-for-$.99 Tuesday bin before "that's a wrap" was ever spoken.

It's about a video game that is interactive and starts to take over Furlong's life? It wasn't the worst movie ever made, but I believe Furlong's acting in it was pretty bad. Not a bad idea for a movie, but films like eXistenZ have a much more interesting plot and certainly better actors.

As I recall, Brainscan is a total waste of time except for one scene.  It's like the first time Furlong plays the game, and while in the game world he brutally stabs his teacher or principal or some school authority figure like that.  I think it's all done in one long POV shot like the opening of Halloween.  From Furlong's perspective the camera sneaks into the guy's house and then watches as Furlong stabs him and he struggles with a knife in his back.  It's a brutal and effective scene.

Too bad the rest of the movie is so lame and predictable.

I actually liked this movie. I found the soundtrack for a few dollars awhile back. For the most part the cd is pretty good. I like the whole idea but yeah the movie did sort of fail with the storytelling of it, acting. It was also a failure at the box office if I remember. The Trickster was a pretty cool character but took too much from Freddy Krueger almost. At least Michael's room is pretty nice I mean I would want to have that phone answering egor thing he has.
