You must find humor in GOOD horror movies, then, don't you?

I'll admit the overall premise is a bit silly (although if you were watching the Japanese version you'd just chalk it up to those crazy Japs and their odd mythology) I still find the overall film good because of some great atmosphere and Naomi Watts' great performance. Really, it's one of the best I've seen in a horror film.

I thought it was a good horror movie.  It followed the classic ghost story formula (and it's a good formula) to a point with a twist at the end.  Also used the kid to good horror effect - something that's been done well recently (the girl in the Others, the kid in the 6th Sense).  It also tapped into the urban legend thing well at the beginning - much better than the two urban legend movies ever did.

It's anyone's right to think it was stupid and laugh at it, but it really worked for me.

I just hope they don't sequelize it into the ground. There were two Ringu sequels in Japan and they were terrible. This concept is just too easy to continue forever and ever. Around part 6 it would be revealed that this tape embodies an ancient ultimate evil destined to possess a child (preferably related to the main character) and be born anew. A least that's what years of watching horror movies tells me.

Hilarious, no. But Watts put in one laughable performance I must say.
