Title: Recent Viewings of my own Post by: Will on May 15, 2001, 06:20:36 PM I've been on a losing streak lately with the rentals:
"Savage Weekend" -- Very little sense to be made of this one. Ugly people having sex and being killed. Predictable (aren't they all) slasher with dud ending. 1 1/2 slimes just because it's not "Pigs." "Don't Answer the Phone" -- My personal choice for the worst of all the movies beginning with the word "Don't." No fun, with mean-spirited rape jokes that make "I Spit on Your Grave" look tame. 1 2/3 slimes just because it's not "Savage Weekend." "Dolly Dearest" -- "Child's Play" + "The Exorcist," and Chucky's a girl. Rip Torn and Denise Crosby (who everybody knows from Star Trek, but her real good work is "The Eliminators") have some good lines.....Denise: "I'm not going to lose my daughter to a goddamn 900 year old goat head!" Otherwise pretty standard fare. 2 slimes . "American Gothic" -- What? Weirdo backwoods family. Annoying Yankees on a trip. Dead Yankees. I will note, however, that "The Remains of the Day" may have lifted the final shot of this movie. Not that you should waste your time discovering what I'm talking about. 2 slimes. I must make better selections........ Title: Re: Recent Viewings of my own Post by: Scott on May 16, 2001, 06:37:08 PM I remember seeing AMERICAN GOTHIC. Late 80's film. Not bad. Couldn't you give it one more slime?
Title: Re: Recent Viewings of my own Post by: Will on May 16, 2001, 11:37:13 PM Well, maybe it was my mood, but it just didn't appeal to me. Rod Steiger was pretty fun; the demented family was fun, but none of the "victims" were fun. I didn't feel sympathetic to any of them. I like "Dolly Dearest" better even.....I dunno, it just didn't have the heart that I like to see in bad movies, y'know?
