Title: HOLLOWGATE--Hilarious 80's "Horror" Film Post by: Richard on January 19, 2003, 02:22:13 AM A couple of nights ago I watched the low budget 80's Slasher film HOLLOWGATE, which I had picked up for $3 at a used video sale. Now I love Slasher films, 80's, 90's, all kinds, but HOLLOWGATE has to be without a doubt one of the worst I've seen in quite some time. HOLLOWGATE centers around a nutcase who owns a creepy old house up at "Hollowgate", so a bunch of teens drive up there on Halloween night, and he goes on a killing spree. Sounds good, right? Wrong!
This film was hilarious! I laughed so much during HOLLOWGATE, this film had more laughs then any recent Comedy film I've seen. Of course, this was supposed to be a Horror film, there are some priceless moments in this film. Let's see, it's doesn't help a Horror film when(Spoilers): 1. The lead "actor" in the film overacts and mugs so shamefully during just about every scene! He is, without a doubt, the WORST lead I've ever seen in a Slasher film. 2. The heroine is butt ugly! That's never a good sign, she scared me more then the killer did! 3. The killer walks around mugging for the camera, and every now and then shouting, "The gooks are out, the gooks are out!" This guy was hilarious! 4. In one scene, he decides to use his "attack" dogs to kill of the teens. So what does he do? He lets out two Golden Retrievers out of a cage to kill the teens! Golden Retrievers! They look like they are ready to play catch with the teens! 5. The lead teen and the heroine decide to get away in a golf cart! So, the cart hits a tiny speed bump, and the ugly heroine goes flying out of the cart! I cheered when this happened! The lead teen goes crazy overacting up a storm in this scene! This one has to seen to be believed! There are so many laughs in this film, it's not funny! It was $3 well spent! Has anyone else had a chance to see this "lost" slasher film? |
