Title: Movie Matchups of All Time
Post by: fireal on February 04, 2003, 08:20:11 AM
I've just read over some promotional stuff for the upcoming Jason and Freddy Krueger and on the Aliens Vesrus Predator project and I was just trying to think of any more matchups that wopuld be good to see on film. Superman versus Batman is a definite. I'm also kind of hoping for an Alien versus Suburban Commando movie because Hulk Hogan plus Face Hugger equals feel good movie of the year!

I think Superman vs. Professor X (and/or) the X-Men, would be a classic struggle of brains vs. brawn.

Id also love to see Myers vs. Leatherface in a match of sickos.

'Leatherface vs Problem Child'

It would be about five minutes in length and just involve Leatherface hacking the crap out of the evil little s**t with the chainsaw.  The world would be a better place.  And he'd also destroy any and all copies of the 2 Problem Child movies.

Do you think if we destroyed all existent trace of a film, they'd let us remove it from the IMDB?

Pete

Who cares that Jim Varney's dead and Paul Reubens is in trouble with the cops. I think it's time we were all tortured with "Ernest vs. Pee-wee."
How about several Bela Lugosi movies? "The Devil Bat vs. Bowery at Midnight," or at the very least "Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla Episode 2: Attack of the Gorillas."
"Batman vs. Frankenstein's Daughter"?
"Mr. Nanny Conquers Suburban Commando"?
"Mitchell on the Planet of the Apes"?
"Mitchell Meets the Rockford Files"?
"Mitchell Meets Frankenstein"?
"Torgo Conquers the Martians"?
"Godzilla vs. Mickey Mouse"?
"Woody Allen vs. Godzilla" (ooh, I like that one.)

Godzilla vs. Gamera.  Daiei Studios, who make the Gamera movies, was recently bought out by a Japanese publishing company and the first thing the new owner did was go into negotiations to make GvsG.  Perhaps in 2004 for Godzilla's 50th birthday?

I have a matchup idea. This could very well give Joe Don Baker's sagging career a boost (his last movie was a cameo in "Joe Dirt" for cryin' out loud!) "Mitchell vs. Buford Pusser." State of the art special effects could be used to have Joe Don and Joe Don fight!
Here's the premise: Buford "Walking Tall" Pusser teams up with Mitchell to stop the evil John Saxon (played by John Saxon). Suddenly, half way through the movie, Mitchell starts hogging the sour cream, and Buford tries to hit him with his big stick.
After some wacky, action packed, and flatulent (in Mitchell's case) adventures, they team back up, conquer John Saxon, and save the day.
If I can't have that, at least give me "Walking Tall IV"

Dirty Harry v. Charles Bronson in Deathwish (I forget his character's name.)
Sort of like Batman v. Superman, neither one is bad, so how do you get one to be in the wrong.

I must revise my previous post w/ the entry of a third candidate for worst actor of all time contest, drumroll please...

Kevin Costner!

There it is folks, a movie rendered so mind numbing by poor performances peoples heads would explode in the theater. Reviewers would be hauled out and incarcerate at Arkham Asylum gibbering non-sense about "the horror, the horror..." It would recieve an NC-17 rating with absolutely no nudity required. John Waters and Peter Jackson could only wish their early works had been so disturbing. Don't look now it's

"Wes Craven presents: The Three Muskateers 2003"

Funk E., haow could you not put Christian Bale in there he is pretty much a piece of wood, (after all, there are 4 musketeers, and let Bruckheimer produce the film)
Come on, Keanu deserves more credibility than Cage or Costener.

A mean Jet Li (he is a much better bad guy than good) vs. a young Jackie Chan.

Dont forget the Ewoks vs. The Gremlins (or Lucas vs. Spielburg for that matter).

Definately need Bruckheimer in the mix to round things out. I'm affraid I have to disagree about Keanu. His agent has mannaged to place him in some good movies, but he himself is AWAYS a liability in all of them. He cannot act, he can't even pretend to act the way Cage and Costner do. You'd get more defined character out of him if you put him on a lathe and fashioned him into a chair leg.

Ah yes, I remember that site, not as fun as it used to be. It seems run by star wars fans too. I didnt know they did Gremlins vs. Ewoks though.

Another I thought up wasMario, vs. Crash Bandicoot, vs. Sonic, the three icons go at it
