Title: 3-D Horror DVDs
Post by: The Burgomaster on March 11, 2003, 05:03:43 PM
I saw a boxed set of 3-D horror DVDs in Best Buy. They are 3 cheesy-looking movies. I suspect that they were made especially for the boxed set. I can't even remember the titles.

Anyway, the set comes with 2 pairs of neat-looking glasses (sort of like smaller versions of the ones you get at the 3-D Imax movies). The set also comes with some type of shutter synchonization contraption that you connect to your TV to get the 3-D effect.

Does anyone have this set? Should I buy it or is it a huge piece of crap and a gigantic waste of money?

I need info!

This (http://www.razor3donline.com/ultimatehorror.html) should give you to a better idea of what's inside...and a quick glimpse at the IMDB for those titles should be enough warning...

Oh yeah--you can link from the "Camp Blood" IMDB page to Amazon's page for the collection...and then further reviews of the set. And just in case I'm thinking of the wrong set, the Amazon page will link to similar sets, including that Elvira thingamaboob.

Isn't "Robot Monster" available on DVD in 3-D?

Ugh. My apologies, gotta quit writing in the wee small hours; then maybe I can get all this into one semi-coherent message. "Robot Monster" was released on VHS in 3-D (it's out of print now), but the DVD proudly declares that it's in glorious "2-D." Heh.

I have the 3-D versions of both ROBOT MONSTER and CAT WOMEN OF THE MOON (both from Rhino) on VHS. The movies cut back and forth from red & green to plain black & white various times throughout each feature. The worst part is, the 3-D DOESN'T WORK! (Many people who bought these movies complained about it. The Psychotronic Video Guide also mentions the fact that the 3-D doesn't work). Please note: I am not saying that the 3-D effects STINK (as is the case with the COMIN' AT YA! DVD). I am saying that the 3-D effects DO NOT WORK AT ALL! I guess that is why they released the ROBOT MONSTER DVD in 2-D.

Thanks, Squishy:

Being the true idiot that I am, I just ordered the 3-D Horror DVD set AND a 3-D Imax DVD set (over $200.00 total, including shipping).

No wonder I can't seem to get ahead in life . . .

I'd like to hear what its like after you get it. They sound interesting but I don't know about buying it. Sounds really cool though, I wonder how well they work.
