Title: What Food To Eat At B Movie Marathons?
Post by: Mike Johnston on March 24, 2003, 02:28:17 AM
I'm playing 10 movies that I'll pick on the day, and I want to give the guys a big feed. They are bringing like 30 dollars to the thing each, and there is 3 guys altogether, so what's for dinner???

Any ideas???
* Also, what movies should I show???

Damn bro, that's plenty O'cash. That would almost cover my beer tab. Food-wise, I'd say keep it simple, microwavable anything is appropriate, also if there is drinking involved, I'd choose my food-stuffs based on easy cleanup. Furthermore, depending on how bad the movies are, you're gonna want to purchase items that won't damage the screen if they are hurled at the TV, and if you picked the awful films and your friends are a resentful lot, purchase items that won't hurt if they are hurled at you. My friends and I are hearty working class stock so for us, just the manly basics, burgers, pizza, chips, beer, hot dogs, beer, chili, anything deep fried, and Lobster Thermidor a Crevette with a mornay sauce served in a Provencale manner with shallots and aubergines garnished with truffle pate, brandy and with a fried egg on top and spam. Just some suggestions, hope I've helped.

Aside from the food...bring a fat sack o' weed!  (if that's your thing)

It'll make sure those munchies kick in and all the food gets eaten!

LOL!!!!!

Psh. Three guys? Ninety dollars? Most pizza chains have wings, breadsticks and soda, some have beer. If any of your buds ARE "chuckers," you might wanna prop a sheet of plexiglass in front of the entertainment center.

I'd have to agree with pizza, fried chicken and beer. But I'd add white russians amd Haribo to it. (Not all in one bowl though)

You  should have the following:

1. Cold beer

2. Water and soft drinks for those who do not drink beer

3. Popcorn (you can substitue most other items on this list, buit you MUST have popcorn . . . no exceptions)

4. Hot wings (but only if you have a way to contain possible spillages . . . you don't want to get the sauce on your furniture)

5. Pizza - must have several varieties, with toppings. As with hot wings, you will need to contain "sauce drippings" and "cheese slidings."

6. Cheese and crackers (varieties may vary depending upon how "refined" the crowd is - cheddar cheese and town house crackers are probably okay for most groups - others will demand melba toast and boursin).

7. Fritos "Scoops" and dip

8. Nacho chips and salsa (again, watch for drippings)

Or, you could go the Chinese Food route and get a lot of "finger foods" like chicken wings, chicken fingers, pork strips, crab rangoon, etc.

Suddenly, I'm very hungry . . .

Dang, Deej, did you quote Monty P. from memory, or experiance?
If i'm not driveing....Killians red or Honey wheat beer: pizza with hot peppers, green olives and hamburger with extra cheese: Popcorn with real butter: and what ever chips are on sale.
Pizza is good for any nationality of B-flick your watchin, i think. Just use the appropriate toppings, make it at home if you want to customise.

If you watch "Troll 2" pistachio pudding is a must.  And it kinda works if you put green food coloring in the oil you use to make popcorn with...just make sure to throw popcorn at the screen during the appropriate scene...you'll know which one.

A regular staple at my friends' parties is "Gleemonex", which is named after the happy drug from the KITH movie.  It's Nacho Cheese Doritos 3-D with one corner torn off and the hollow-chip-cavity then filled with pixie stix.  Nothing like biting through a very thin shell to get a mouthful of powder.  Not for all tastes, though.

Oh, Salt & Vinegar chips are a must for all occasions.

"shark attack 3" is a must if you've never seen it.  Best B-movie i've ever seen to date.  Nothing has been able to top it.  It is the benchmark movie that me and my fellow B-movie watchers measure all other B-movies to.

Any kind of junk food and lots of it so that when the movie is finished you won't be able to tell if it was the s**t you were watching or eating that made you sick.  My favorites are slurpees and potato chips.

Get some sour cream and onion chips with some dip, man, some beef jerky, some peanut butter. Get some Haagen-Das ice cream bars, a whole lot, make sure chocolate, gotta have chocolate, man. Some popcorn, red popcorn, graham crackers, graham crackers with marshmallows, the little marshmallows and little chocolate bars and we can make smores, man. Also, celery, grape jelly, Captain Crunch with the little Crunch berries, pizzas. We need two big pizzas, man, everything on 'em, with water, whole lotta water, and Funyons.

Be sure to play "Half Baked", essential viewing...

For us the basics are Pizza, Beer and Popcorn. Everything else is window dressing. Oh and the pizza MUST be ordered with Extra Cheese ;-)

Pizza is ambrosia! Pizza is what Moses brought down off of the mount. Pizza is the allmighty foodstuff of mankind. All should bow before the glorious pizza thingy.

"Lobster Thermidor a Crevette with a mornay sauce served in a Provencale manner with shallots and aubergines garnished with truffle pate, brandy and with a fried egg on top and spam."

Bwahahaah!!! Yes, all B-movie marathons should have this. If code were enabled on this board I have a thoroughly disgusting 50's ad for "Spam N Limas" that can actually cause French chefs to commit hara kiri!

And in another post, the juxtaposition of 'peanut butter, beef jerky' is enough to give one (well, me) an idea for a very twisted culinary experiment...I mean, I've already tried peanut butter hot dogs. Don't laugh, they're actually quite good.

Seriously, anything greasy, garlicky and salty is good...along with massive amounts of sugary snacks and popcorn.

PS) The "Pixie Stick-dust-filled 3D chips snack" is obviously the product of a demented mind. Good work.

Interestingly enough, I was at the pizza place earlier. Best damn meal I've had in awhile. To bad there wasn't a tv on showing a b-movie. It woulda made it PERRfect. As for the farts, saved that for on the way home. :)

NoNOno!! you got me all wrong!! i LovE pizza! pizza is great! but it needs to be saved for romantic evenings and special occasions! when you can devote all your attention to the delicate treasure you will consume! when youve waited all day fantasizing about its greasy texture gliding slowly across your face and then finally into your open, dripping, pulsing, screaming mouth that awaits the burst of fatty pleasures when it eats pizza!   when youre going to be watching movies you cant give pizza the attention it needs! so you take its offspring! pizza rolls! and eat THEM!  to eat a pizza during movie nights is abusive and selfish, its like youre raping the pizza! all pizza ever did was love you! and make pizza rolls for movie nights!

love colleen

10 Movies sounds like a 25 hour marathon

Is pizza gonna tide you over and reheat well?
Maybe it's because i'm from texas, but I would find the nearest barbeque pit in town and get a mess of ribs, the kind they give you in giant tin containers. they reheat well.

Don't guys like getting together and eating foods that don't involve utensils and are generally a hunk-o-meat? ;=)

As for desert - no need to even suggest the staples.

They've got $30 a piece! I think they can spring for more than "starving student" food :-)
Personally with that many people and that much money I'd venture to say a big crab or lobsterfest might be in order. Get a big ass pot and toss the poor futhermuckers in! YeeHaw!
