Todays paper had the article by the above writer. He works for the Kansas City Star, and as it's todays article, it may get to the archives tomorrow. "Officaly, this fueling and ammunition supply dump carved out of the sandy soil of Central Iraq is known as Camp AA Anderson" " But the Marines of Delta Co. of the 7th Engineering Support co. have a different name for it" "We're turning this place into Fire Base Gloria" Capt Sean Riddell said" Realy! Check this article out! I quote agine.... "Fire Base Gloria is a referance to Siege at Fire Base Gloria, a 1989 movie that many Marines describe as both Cheesy and central to being a Marine". I kid you not! "Lance Cpl. Brian Helvin, a Physics major at Origon state U., called it "Perhaps the Best Bad war movie of all time" High praise! " There's this scene where the sargent walks into the camp holding thses two heads in his hands, by the hair, and he says "Does anybody know who these heads belong to? Isen't that great?" Andrew...i think we know what movie you should next review! Make the Corp proud! "it's almost required viewing for Marines" 1st Sgt. Mike Barnhill said." My God....what else can i say? Don't know how many times I have walked into a barracks room, looked at the screen, and said, "Oh, 'The Siege of Firebase Gloria.'" And, of course, it includes Lee Ermey - patron saint of movies with Marines.
Don't know about a review Flange. I'm really waiting for this one to come out on DVD first. |
