Title: "Invisible Invaders"
Post by: Andrew on May 03, 2003, 11:35:52 AM
Watched this the other night, along with "Journey to the Seventh Planet" (the other movie on the double feature DVD).  I have to say that aliens constantly seem to pick the worst ways to prove their existence.  In "Plan 9 from Outer Space" they finally resorted to flying over cities, but here they leave the burden of convincing the world on the shoulders of one man.

Next question, since it was never answered:  why did the invaders have to use dead human bodies?  They obviously had substance, because they interacted with the environment (plants, dirt, strangling John Agar).

Once revealed, the creatures looked like short and chubby versions of "It! The Terror from Beyond Space."

"Journey to the Seventh Planet" is something of a rip-off from Ray Bradbury's "Martian Chronicles."  Though it is easy to see how the idea could be come up with separately.  What made me laugh was that after the Captain was injured, all the men run off and play with the fake women.  (Uranus is inhabited by a powerful being that can make reality.  It plucks memories from the minds of the astronauts and makes them "real.")  They know the women, who are often dressed in thin and sexy outfits, are not real - but have a ball anyway.  It would probably be considered masturbation for the Catholics.  Also, to try and prevent the joke, they keep saying, "Your - Ah - Ness."

Considering that I am working on a "Flesh Gordon 2" review, that sentence caused some mental defense mechanisms to kick in.

Yep journey to the seventh planet is also another Danish movie I'm pretty sure like reptilicus. I got the double feature dvd too along with another one just released- psych out/ the trip. I watched both psych out and the trip (cool movies-liked psych out a little more but both are good) but haven't got to the other dvd yet.
