Title: Yor - The Hunter from the Future Post by: Andrew on May 26, 2003, 12:45:03 AM The new review is open. A lot of people have written me over the years in support of this movie. I am a little sad about it, because my laserdisc developed rot and turned into a giant silver frisbee. Lucky for me that the VHS is in good shape.
The review says it all: cheesy movie, but pretty fun to watch. Even then I thought the movie was awful. However, the theme song is immortal. I think we all need to be honest for a moment. If it wasn't for that theme song then YOR would be about as memorable as those ATOR films. The song makes the movie.

Title: Re: Yor - The Hunter from the Future Post by: Ken Begg on May 26, 2003, 06:34:06 PM Hey, Andrew. Did you know Swank rents this? Hmm...B-Festy!
Title: Re: Yor - The Hunter from the Future Post by: Andrew on May 26, 2003, 07:55:53 PM Ken, it would be an exceptionally good film for B-Fest.
You could even get up on stage and do the Y - O - R when the title song plays. That would be like the YMCA, but with different letters. Title: Re: Yor - The Hunter from the Future Post by: yaddo42 on May 27, 2003, 01:13:39 PM The video store I used to rent from had the VHS of this and MR. SCARFACE (the Jack Palance flick) in their classics section along with legit classic films. I always figured they confused MR. SCARFACE with the Paul Muni gangster film SCARFACE. I never could figure out a reason why YOR was there, but enjoyed the thought of it being there so much I never said anything about it.
SciFi shows this one a lot during their late Sunday/early Monday movie slot. I always get a kick out of it. Especially the old man (Pak?), who's pretty badass in this flick, all that running and close quarters combat and he's an excellent trapeze artist as well. With a little assistance from a cheap model of him (love that midair flip) and reusing footage. How did that theme song miss the US top 40? Everytime I hear it I think, "So that's where Andrew W. K. gets his inspiration from." Title: Yor? Post by: I luv dolma on May 27, 2003, 08:18:16 PM My what?

One of the channels played it like 2 weeks ago. I think it was SciFi. |
