Title: help with animated lord of the rings
Post by: Wycked Nick on May 31, 2003, 04:03:55 AM
Ok now i have a problem and it has been driving me nuts for years. When I was a kid I remeber seeing a animated version of the lord of the rings which went through all 3 books. Now for years I have been looking for this movie and have never found it.I remeber that the movie animation style was the same as the Hobbit,so i asume it was made by the same people.
I know that there is another animated lord of the rings movie, were they combined live action and animation together. This is not the movie im thinking of because it only about the first book. And in the version I remeber it was just pure animation, no live action.
Id appreciate any info about this movie.
P.S. I still plan on taking over the world.
MWUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

You're looking for Return of the King (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0079802), which is the only other Lord of the Rings movie out there.  Unfortunatly, it isn't the complete trilogy.

"The Hobbit" and "Return Of The King" were done by the Rankin/Bass duo who also did a lot of Chrsitmas specials using stop-motion puppets

"The Lord Of The Rings" was done by Ralph Bakshi (who also did "Wizards" and "Cool World") which is a rotoscoping technique to combine live action and animation.  Unfortunately, he ran out of money and only really covered abuot half way through "tThe Two Towers"

I think "Return Of The King" had that song: "Frodo Of The Nine Fingers and The Ring Of Doom"
