Title: Actors you miss Post by: Mofo Rising on July 27, 2003, 01:22:46 AM I know it's been 15 years since her death, but you know who I miss? Anne Ramsey (http://us.imdb.com/Name?Ramsey,%20Anne). I have never seen anybody make a mean old lady so enjoyable.
Plus, she was in THE GOONIES. That's always a plus. So what actors do miss? Who do you wish was still around making movies? Title: Re: Actors you miss Post by: Cullen on July 27, 2003, 06:05:52 AM Easy one: Vincent Price and Peter Cushing. Also Roddy McDowell and Anthony Perkins.

Raul Julia Madeline Kahn Marty Feldman Grant Chapman Title: Re: Actors you miss Post by: Dolph Lundgren on July 27, 2003, 08:46:53 PM I'm with Neon, definitely Bruce and Brandon Lee.
And Richard Crenna. He was great in the Rambos. I know there's more, but I can't think of them right now. Nick Title: Re: Actors you miss Post by: scarface on July 28, 2003, 03:23:29 AM john candy

I'd give anything to have been able to see the Marx Brothers on Broadway. Title: Re: Actors you miss Post by: Fearless Freep on July 28, 2003, 05:06:14 PM I'd give anything to see the Marx Brothers in ancient Rome...
Actualy there aren't really any actors I've missed because many of the old greats (Steve McQueen, Peter O'Toole, Ketherine Hepburn, etc..) were before my prime so I miss the anticipationand excitement of them coming out with a new movie. I don't think there are any actors today, even my favorites like Sean Connery and Harrison Ford, that I really get excited about them coming out with a new movie. I guess I'm more interested in the characters than the actors Title: Re: Actors you miss Post by: Vermin Boy on July 28, 2003, 05:53:59 PM Ditto on Phil Hartman. Lionel Hutz and Troy McClure were two of the all-time great TV characters.
Title: Re: Actors you miss Post by: chrisb on July 28, 2003, 07:37:53 PM Speaking of McClure, It's a shame old Doug isn't still with us. I think he died within a year of that other B-movie great, Peter Cushing, back in the mid-nineties.
Title: Re: Actors you miss Post by: AndyC on July 29, 2003, 11:40:06 AM I agree with the others - Phil Hartman, John Candy, Anne Ramsey et al.
However, I also agree with Freep. Most of the deceased actors I really like were already either dead or retired when I saw their movies. I can't really miss them, but as others have suggested, it would have been cool to see their movies when they were new. The actors I really miss are still alive, but are either retired from the business, or working, but getting too old to play the sort of roles that made them famous. I could come up with a pretty exensive list. Title: Re: Actors you miss Post by: M on July 29, 2003, 01:45:01 PM Les Tremaine
Title: Re: Actors you miss Post by: nemo38 on July 31, 2003, 10:05:00 PM ho-hum...I miss the older small time actors of the 60's like Ross Martin,Wally Cox, and Dan Blocker..the bigger names like Peter Sellers and Robert Shaw, and then there's my icons like Roddy Mcdowall and Vincent Price..I'm sure there are others but why depress myself?

Sydney Lassick John Candy Title: Re: Actors you miss Post by: Deej on August 02, 2003, 06:19:28 PM Not having known any actors, there aren't any I particularly miss. Most of my favorite actors kinda stopped doing quality work long before they shuffled off this mortal coil. Robert Mitchum, great actor..the prototypical noir tough guy, but sadly his later body of work consisted of classics like "Backfire!", USA made for tv movies and a crappy James Dean biopic. Steve McQueen, the ultimate in cool, was making films like "The Hunter" before he died(much too young), and Peter O'Toole, while still alive, isn't really appearing in much lately(although I read that he is in the upcoming "Troy").
I guess that instead of really missing my favorites, I wish they had done a few more really good ones. Thankfully, through the miracle of DVD and cable tv, I can still catch my favorite actors in there greates roles. |
