Title: Coolest DVD Intros
Post by: Ash on August 01, 2003, 08:37:28 PM
I'm not sure if this has been discussed on here before.

You know....when you put the DVD in and the intro comes on followed by the menu.

I rented "Requiem of A Dream" last night and while it doesn't have the coolest intro...it definitely was different.
It's of a motivational show that appears during the movie and the image is all staticy.
I actually thought my TV was messing up but the static was done intentionally.
It had me convinced!

What is the absolute coolest DVD intro you have seen?

The one for "This is Spinal Tap" always cracks me up.

Cecil B. DeMented has a good one; it opens on a fake menu for "Some Kind of Happiness" (the feel-good Hollywood movie-in-a-movie), which is promptly sprayed with bullets and blown up, followed by a montage of slogans from the movie.

But TC is right-- Spinal Tap is the all-time champ.

I've read that the menu for House of 1000 Corpses rocks.  Capt. Spaulding eats chicken and reads porn while insulting the viewer if you don't pick a feature quick enough.

i liked the intro for the final fantasy: the spirits within special features disk where aki walks through the 'set' as if she was real.   it has fictional characters interacting with real people etc and i thought it was a pretty original, but i wouldn't say it to be the best i'd ever seen, just a good idea.

on another related topic, what about really crappy dvd stuff.  i really loathe the fox ones that just have the fox logo on it and a small pic of the movie

they really only do this for rentals [the cheap scum] since most don't include special features, but it really annoys me [ i rented xmen even though i had a crappy vcd, because i liked the look of some of the extra features only to realise it was the 'rental version' and i got screwed! :( ]

the one for fight club takes the FBI warning and inserts Tyler Durden's thoughts....pretty funny

Title: Slightly confused here...

...Are you referring to the dvd/video company  logo, or the introductions to whatever the dvd's menu is? A video logo and a menu intro are two different things.
