I actually like about a quarter to a third of those characters!

Was this another bulls**t Maxim list? They need to stick to getting young starlets half naked and quit pretending like they actually have their fingers on the pulse of pop culture.

I don't think I know most of those characters. I recognize the shows, but since I don't watch many TV shows.

But like I usually say when these 'things I hate" lists come up, I don't waste a lot of time dwelling on what I don't like.  If I lie it, I watch it.  If I don't I don't watch it.  Life goes on

Who could hate Jesse after her heroic fight against painful caffeine pill addiction?  Wathcing her breakdown into "I'm So Excited" was some of the most harrowing t.v. watching in recent history.

> 32."Cousin" Larry Appleton (Perfect Strangers)

Now really, I defy you to think of a better straightman to play opposite Balki.

> 20. Jesse Camp (MTV)

Great singer, though.

> 13. Jimmy Fallon (Saturday Night Live)

Now that's a trendy choice.  What about Melanie Hutsell?

> 12. Buddy Lembeck (Charles in Charge)

Yes, but you can't badmouth somebody who now plays Bibleman.

It depends on whether you're talking about the wiseass Buddy Lembeck or the braindead Buddy Lembeck who made Kelly Bundy look smart...

I actually agree with most of this list, but would rank Paul Shaffer, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimminy Glick, and "Cousin Larry" much higher.

Ben Seaver was too bland to be on this list. Where are the complete casts of "Suddenly Susan" and "Veronica's Closet"? Where's any character David Spade played on SNL or his character on "Just Shoot Me"?

Notice how many supposedly cute, smartass kids from sitcoms are on the list.

But I like Janet Wood. And sure Janice Lazarotto was was whiney, but the actress playing her was hot, so I let it slide and hated when she left the show.

Judy Woodruff of CNN is the worst news person/character on TV.

Actually I don't watch regular TV much anymore. If I do its Reality TV type programming, Seinfield, Americas Funniest Video. The last time I actually watched the major networks was back in the 70's as a teenager. If I'm not renting films I can be found watching.

Western Channel (Hopefully they keep bringing hard to find Westerns)
Fox News (the best news channel)
Weather Channel
Encore Channels (Been catching alot of secondary stuff that I have passed over the years. Good stuff)
Flix (They have also been showing some good films)
History Channel (they are still putting together new docu pieces than most)
Nova (on PBS)
Bravo (once in a while)
Wrestling (Once in a blue moon just to see what they are doing with the characters.

Travel Channel (our cable provider lost this nice channel)

I was just wondering, the actress that played Janice Lazarotto,  was she ever in this show called "Cybil"?

BlackAngel....can you please edit your profile?  All those "-" in your sig, on most of my browser configurations it causes the pages to get very wide and I spend most of my time scrolling back and forth to read anyone's post; it effects the width and wrapping of every post in a thread you've posted in

What gets me about this list is that it mixes real people (like Paul Schafer) along side fictional characters.  If they want to talk about obnoxious people, fine, but don't go mixing real people with folks who are saddled with bad writers.

And what's with knocking down Ernestine?  I loved that character.  She's supposed to be annoying, it's a two minute skit, she had to establish the character's obnoxiousness quickly.  It is called caricature.

And where the (*&^*^ is the Star Trek:TNG cast (especially Wesley)?

Your profile signature has a whole bunch of "--------".

Depending on a person's screen resolution and browser setup, it forces the posts to be wider than the browser width.  It makes everyone's posts leak out of view to the right side.

The posts themselves normally wordwrap so it doesn't matter what someone puts on a  line.  But the signatures do not wrap so a wide signature will affect all the post displays

Bill O'Reilly!

He is arrogant, cocky; and I just want to punch him in the face EVERYTIME I hear his voice or see him on my televison.

Characters that I was surprised to see on this list that I like (going backwards like the list itself) -

48. Janet Wood (Three's Company)
I might like Suzanne Sommers as an actress, but I liked Janet much more than Chrissy.

42. Edna Garrett (The Facts of Life)
Mr. Garrett was a fair minded and responsible adult friend for teens. If only more adults could be like this wonderful character.

40. Harry T. Stone (Night Court)
Good old Harry. Fair minded judge, big Mel Torme fan, all around good guy.

47. Dwayne Wayne (A Different World)
The first season of ADW was the best, and Dwayne Wayne was just too goofy.

b39. Twiki (Buck Rogers in the 25th Century)
Watching reruns of Buck Rogers now, Twiki is some good comic relief on an already semi-goofy show.

36. Capt. Benjamin "Hawkeye" Pierce (M*A*S*H)
Hawkeye is on this list and not Frank? What is this world coming too!

35. Orville "Rick" Wright (Magnum P.I.)
I always thought Rick was goofy, but loveable.

34. Flo Castleberry (Alice)
I haven't seen a rerun of Alice in over 15 years, but I remember Flo as one of my favorites on the show.

29. Danny Partridge (Partridge Family)
This is probably how I learned to be smartass. Thanks, Danny!

27. Dr. Frasier Crane (Frasier)
Now I haven't been a regular viewer of Frasier (the show), but Frasier was my favorite character on Cheers, next to Coach.

22. Templeton "Face" Peck (A-Team)
Dirk Benedict kicks ass!

16. Ernestine the Operator (Rowan & Martin Laugh-In)
Ernestine is one of my favorite characters of Lily Tomlin. I've even seen younger kids imitate Ernestine!

12. Buddy Lembeck (Charles in Charge)
Yes, the wiseass version of Buddy was great.

11. Thelma Harper (Mama's Family)
Vicki Lawrence's quitessential character - she was even playing Mama on 'The Carol Burnett Show' !

8. Elvin Tibideaux (The Cosby Show)
Elvin was such a great character to goof on when he was first on the show, and it was great to see him grow as a person as time went on. His parents were cool too.

5. Jan Brady (The Brady Bunch)
I am a middle child like Jan, so I related to her. I don't know why she was always going around saying 'Marcia, Marcia, Marcia' or doing silly things like wearing that black wig or using lemon juice to get rid of her freckles. She had her own good qualities.

2. Diane Chambers (Cheers)
Oh Diane. She was so fun to goof on I don't think I could ever hate her.

I guess it was because of his holier-than-thou attitude.  Watching the show now, it amazes me how much he was sexually harassing the women.

I think it's those contradictions that made him such a great character. The guy was half-way manic, on his way to becoming a drunk, a womanizer, among other things. But he always had his medical prowess and open-mindedness to fall back on. It was so perfect for the writers to create characters like B.J. and Charles as a contrast to Hawkeye, because even though I thought Trapper John and Frank were great, Trapper was too much like Hawkeye, and it just was too easy to goof on Frank because he was a moronic idiot.

I hated what they did with Frank's character.  All the others were allowed to grow & be more complex, but because he was the pro-war, establishment type, he was just a caricature.

The film version of Frank (as portrayed by Robert Duvall) was different on some respects as he was a religious zealot. But as for the tv Frank he was a bad doctor and surgeon. That's where Charles was different.

Frank Burns was a caraciture, Winchester was a real, complex person. Nuff said.
