Title: Death Race 2000?
Post by: Skaboi18 on August 05, 2001, 04:05:48 PM
I was wondering if this film is worth a buy?  I've read quite a few good things about it, but have yet to see it!  Someone give me their opinion about it?  Does it have much gore?  Help!

Well yes and no. I would say it's an almost perfect example of a badmovie. Not particularly gory, and the other drawback is S. Stallone. The pluses are R. Corman's involvement and David Carradine's "Frankenstein". The points system is pretty neat as well. Treat yourself.

I say go for it. It's one of those movies that's so wacked out and subversively entertaining that I have trouble believing it was actually made. I saw it at 3 am on a local UHF station, and then bought it right after getting my learner's permit. ,:)

$15 for a DVD? I'm emigrating! Or should that be "immigrating"?

It just depends which direction you're going.  In your case, you would be emigrating from the UK, which would make you an immigrant to the US.  (I think that's right.)  Look me up when you get here. ;)

It's August and it's peeing down with rain, and DVDs are to be had in the US for under 10 English quid (over here they go for the equivalent of up to $35). Send that passport application off dearest - we's a goin'.

"YOU WANT FRANKENSTEIN?! I'LL GIVE YA FRANKENSTEIN!!! (FIRES MACHINE GUN INTO CROWD) " -Machine Gun Joe (Sly Stalone)

That is what makes DR2K such a great movie.

In about a month Mr. Flange, in the meantime I'll have to make do with my crappy taped-off-tv-with-astoundingly-bad-colour-definition stone(d) age video version. Sillyvest still is a mumbling infant, isn't he?

Boy, you guys think $15 for a DVD is cheap?  Have ye looked at Reefer Madness?  I got it for $5, new, at a store in a mall...

Aha -  Reefer Madness has stolen all their souls! I've never seen a better DIY guide for weed - how to grow, prepare and ...er indulge. Absolutely prime hilarity.
